Iran's deputy foreign minister confirms deal with US to end the war
Donald Trump’s
newly announced deal to end the war with Iran
was already under strain on Monday as Israel announced plans to stay in Lebanon, despite a reported agreement to end the conflict on all fronts.
Israeli defence minister Israel Katz,
whose country is not a party to the US-Iran deal unveiled yesterday
, said the military would not withdraw from security zones in southern Lebanon and would retaliate if Iran attacked.
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I are leading a clear policy that determines that the IDF will remain in the security zones in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, without any time limit, to protect, from there, the border and Israeli communities against jihadist elements,” he said in a statement.
Lebanon has suffered the deadliest spillover of the conflict between the US and Iran, with thousands of people killed and some 1.2 million people uprooted by an Israeli offensive against Iran-backed Hezbollah.
Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif, a key mediator between Tehran and Washington, said a deal called for “the immediate and…

Donald Trump
confirmed that Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu
has requested a meeting at the White House. The diplomatic encounter is expected to take place shortly after Trump’s return from the NATO Summit, potentially within the coming days. Speaking to Axios, Trump described his relationship with Netanyahu as excellent, stating in his characteristically blunt fashion: “We get along great. You know who the boss is. And he knows who the boss is.” The comment underscores the dynamic nature of the bilateral relationship between the two countries. If confirmed, the visit would mark the first time the two leaders have met since their February meeting in the White House Situation Room, where the Israeli prime minister had presented a detailed plan for military action against Iran.
The timeline of Netanyahu’s visit
An Israeli official clarified that the exact date of the meeting has not yet been finalized. Next week may be too soon, given the U.S. president’s scheduled trip to Turkey. According to the same official, the meeting could take place the following week, depending on…

US-Iran deal: US President Donald Trump on Sunday expressed his displeasure over Israeli strikes on Beirut as he urged the Jewish state to halt its attacks on Lebanon, warning it could jeopardise a potential US-Iran deal to end the West Asia war, which Trump said was "so close".
In a Truth Social post, Trump said Sunday's Israeli strikes on Beirut "should not have happened particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran".
Trump said while "Israel has the right to defend itself", it should have exercised restraint because the Hezbollah attack its was responding to was "small and meaningless, nobody was hurt, injured, or killed, and should not disrupt this important process."
The US president urged both Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah to stand down and exercise restraint, so a peace deal can be reached between Iran and the United States to end the West Asia conflict for good."We are very close to a Deal that will bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon, and all sides should stand down. US President Donald Trump said he spoke with Israeli officials and urged them to agree to a ceasefire with Hezbollah, welcoming a truce that could remove a major obstacle to broader diplomacy with Iran.
In a phone interview with NBC News on Friday, Trump said he had asked Israeli officials to support a ceasefire with the Iran-backed Lebanese group. He declined to say whether he had spoken directly with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump described the ceasefire as "a positive" and called it "little icing on the cake."
The Lebanon truce could therefore remove one of the key points of contention surrounding implementation of the recently signed US-Iran memorandum of understanding and the launch of broader negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has discussed the US-Iran agreement and regional security with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis following the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.

Trump asks Netanyahu not to retaliate after attack, says Israel must accept US-Iran deal - World News | The Financial Express
US President Donald Trump has asked Israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahunot to retaliate against Iran’s recent missile attack, according to Axios, citing a senior US official and an Israeli source familiar with the conversation.
Later, in a phone interview with the Financial Times, Trump said Netanyahu will have no option but to accept whatever agreement Washington reaches with Iran, stressing that the final decisions rest with him.
“He won’t have any choice,” Trump said in a phone interview with the Financial Times. Making his position even clearer, Trump added: “I call the shots. I call all the shots. He doesn’t call the shots.”
His remarks came shortly after Iran fired a barrage of ballistic missiles at Israel, marking the most serious violation yet of the ceasefire that was agreed upon in early April.
Despite the missile attack, Trump indicated that he does not want Israel to retaliate. Before speaking with Netanyahu, Trump told Axios that he planned to urge the Israeli leader not to respond militarily to Iran’s missile attack. Tehran had said t…

According to information received by Israel, US President Donald Trump and his advisers are convinced that unless the Strait of Hormuz is reopened and oil prices fall, the global economy will enter a recession. It should be noted that such forecasts have indeed been voiced in the American media. For this reason, Trump is approving a memorandum of understanding whose only practical significance is the reopening of the strait, while all the other issues will be discussed later.
Israel is deeply unhappy with the move, but is refraining from criticism out of an understanding of the predicament in which the president finds himself. At the same time, Israel blocked an Iranian demand that it withdraw its forces from Lebanon as part of the understandings.
According to the messages that those around President Trump continue to convey to Israel, in thefinal agreement, if such an agreement is signed, the US will achieve all the original goals for which it went to war. For now, officials in Jerusalem stress, there is no agreement, but rather a memorandum of understanding, if that.

US President Donald Trump has said Israel’s survival depends on American support and urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to show more restraint in Lebanon. His remarks put unusual open pressure on a close US ally at a time when Washington is trying to keep attention on Iran’s nuclear programme.
Speaking during a bilateral meeting with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, Trump criticised the length of Israel’s military campaign against Hezbollah. He said the conflict had gone on longer than necessary and was complicating wider diplomatic efforts in West Asia.

U.S. President Donald Trump renewed his claims of momentum toward ending the conflict with Iran, after brokering a halt to hostilities between Israel and the Islamic Republic and easing tensions that had threatened to derail broader peace efforts.
“We’re in the final throes of what will be a very, very good deal,” Trump told reporters in New York on Tuesday. “We could have at least an idea one or two days from now.”
The U.S. president spoke on Monday hours after Iran and Israel agreed to halt strikes on each other following a flare-up that saw both countries launch waves of ballistic missiles. He has repeatedly spoken of an interim agreement to end the war that began when the U.S. and Israel started bombing Iran in February. A ceasefire has been in place for about two months, but sporadic fighting amo…

Iran US Israel War Live Updates:US President Donald Trump on Monday said that the United States could achieve "total victory" over Iran within the next two weeks, expressing optimism about ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
The US Army's Apache helicopter gunship reportedly crashed near the Strait of Hormuz, however, the pilots on board were safe. Meanwhile, Iran and Israel announced a halt in strikes, leading the way for a potential ceasefire deal between Tehran and Washington. The conflict between Iran and Israel threatened to wreck Washington's efforts to reach an agreement with Tehran to end a war that began in February. However, a report later claimed that Trump has warned Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu that if the country resumes the war with Iran, he would soon be "left on his own". "I said, 'Bibi, you better be careful, or you will be on your own very soon,'" Trump told Axios.

US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, cautioning that Israel could find itself "on its own" if it reignites a wider conflict with Iran. Trump said this while in an interview with Axios, shedding light on growing tensions between Washington and Jerusalem over how to handle the fragile security situation in the Middle East.
"I said, 'Bibi, you better be careful, or you will be on your own very soon,'" Trump told Axios, referring to a recent conversation with Netanyahu.
According to Israeli officials cited by Axios, Israel was preparing what could have been its largest wave of strikes against Iran since April, with dozens of targets reportedly under consideration. The planned operation came after a rapid escalation between Israel and Iran that saw both sides exchange missile attacks over the weekend.
However, Trump personally called Netanyahu and urged him to halt further military action, fearing that renewed strikes could trigger a broader regional war and jeopardize ongoing diplomatic efforts. Israeli officials said disagreements emerged during the…

The last time Israel struck the Beirut suburbs a week ago, it set off the most serious escalation of fighting between Iran and Israel since the tenuous ceasefire took hold on April 7.
Trump, who had said the deal could be signed on Sunday, has pressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop hitting Lebanon hard while a deal is near, but the prime minister has defied him.

When Israeli and American fighter jets struck Iran in unison on
February 28,
President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu celebrated each other’s “historic decisions.” The alliance between the two countries, Netanyahu told Israelis, had never been closer.
Three months later, what began as a joint military campaign appears to be ending as an American-led diplomatic process in which Netanyahu finds himself largely sidelined.
The Israeli prime minister has refrained from openly criticizing Trump, but behind closed doors, Israeli sources say, he has acknowledged Israel has limited influence on the outcome of US-Iran negotiations to end the war.
Since the

Washington DC [US], June 20 (ANI): Moments after Israel and Hezbollah announced a ceasefire between the two sides, US President Donald Trump on Friday (local time) said that he urged the Israeli side to agree to a ceasefire with the rebel group in Lebanon after the two sides renewed fresh strikes against each other earlier today.
In a phone interview with NBC News, Trump said he had been in contact with Israel earlier in the day and encouraged its leadership to support the ceasefire effort.
However, he declined to confirm whether he had spoken directly with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
'It's a positive,' Trump said, referring to the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
'It's a little icing on the cake,' he added, referring to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the United States and Iran aimed at ending the conflict in West Asia and opening diplomatic channels for the 60-day period for technical talks with the Islamic Republic.
Trump also spoke about his relationship with Netanyahu, saying, 'I've always been good with Bibi. You just have to calm down sometimes and use your head.'

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday defended his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but publicly urged Israel to exercise greater restraint in Lebanon, amid apprehensions over how the emerging US-Iran agreement should reshape the conflict in the region.
Speaking on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, Trump dismissed suggestions of a rift with the Israeli leader. “No, we have a great relationship,” news agency Reuters quoted him as saying, when asked if he was frustrated with Netanyahu. However, he added that Israel needed to be “more responsible” with regard to Lebanon and revealed that he had objected to an Israeli strike on Beirut.
“I told Israel that I did not like the attack on Beirut,” Trump said, suggesting that Syria should deal with Hezbollah rather than Israel launching further military operations in Lebanon.
Trump’s remarks came as conflicting accounts emerged over whether Lebanon forms part of the still-unpublished agreement aimed at ending months of conflict involving the United States and Iran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said any agreement ending hosti…

US President Donald Trump on Sundaysharply criticised Israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu after Israel carried out strikes in Beirut, just hours before the United States and Iran were expected to sign a framework agreement aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Speaking to Axios, Trump expressed frustration over the timing of the Israeli attack, claiming it had delayed the signing of the deal by several hours.
"It is so bad — I couldn't believe it. An hour before we are supposed to sign the deal," Trump told the news outlet over the phone.
The US President went on to criticise Netanyahu's ability to assess the gravity of the situation, adding that he conveyed his displeasure directly to the Israeli leader.
"Why did Bibi have to do a f*****g attack? I was so pissed off. I let him know. He has no f*****g judgement," Trump said.
Trump also argued thatIsraelshould not have launched the strike despite Hezbollah firing projectiles towards northern Israel earlier in the day, saying the attack by theIran-backed militant group had caused limited damage.

President
Donald Trump
said he was “pissed off” at Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu
over Israel’s strikes on Beirut Sunday.
In
an interview with Axios’s
Barak Ravid
on Sunday, the president lashed out at Netanyahu following the
Israel strike on a Hezbollah target
on the outskirts of Beirut — a response to Hezbollah launching drones toward Galilee.
“Why did Bibi have to do a f*cking attack?” Trump said. “I was so pissed off. I let him know. He has no f*cking judgement. I let him know that.”
In a
separate interview
, Trump told Fox News’s
Trey Yingst
he called Netanyahu and said “What the f*ck are you doing?”
The president told Ravid that the signing of a peace deal with Iran was “delayed” as a result of the Israeli strikes, but said the deal remains on track.
“It shook it up,” Trump said. “It delayed the signing by a few hours. It was supposed to be now. Now it is scheduled for a few hours from …

President Donald Trump declared victory after the United States and Iran reached an interim framework to end a war launched by the US and Israel in February, but the deal’s first test may be whether Washington can keep a temporary ceasefire from being undermined by its closest regional ally.
The agreement, described by US and Iranian officials as a memorandum of understanding, is expected to be formally signed Friday in Switzerland after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the framework early Monday local time. Pakistan served as a mediator in the talks, while Qatari negotiators reportedly flew to Tehran on Sunday morning as part of the final push to secure the agreement.
“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” Trump wrote on Truth Social shortly after Sharif’s announcement. In a separate post, Trump said, “This Great Deal will bring Peace and Security to the whole Region. Many presidents have tried to make Peace with Iran, and all have failed before me.”
The president did not mention that the war began when US and Israeli fo…

Israeli military action targeted multiple locations in southern Lebanon, with an Israeli drone strike reported in the town of Majdal in the Tyre district and two air strikes hitting the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, as per Al Jazeera.
Donald Trump said talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran are “continuing, at a rapid pace,” signalling that negotiations between Washington and Tehran remain ongoing despite recent uncertainty over the status of discussions
Trump said he held a “very productive” call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and claimed there would be no troops going to Beirut, adding that any forces en route had already been turned back. He also said he spoke through representatives with Hezbollah, stating that both sides had agreed to halt all firing, with Israel not attacking Hezbollah and Hezbollah not attacking Israel.
Mohsen Rezaei, an adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, said Tehran will not accept a continued maritime blockade or rising tensions in Lebanon, asserting Iran’s strategic control over the Strait of Hormuz. In a post on X, he warned that the “patience of the armed forces of the…

Trump says peace ‘deal is all signed’ and Strait of Hormuz open now
Israeli prime minister
Benjamin Netanyahu
has said he and Donald Trump “don’t
always see eye-to-eye”
after the US president
grew frustrated
at
Israel’s attacks on Lebanon.
Netanyahu was asked about his relationship with Trump during a press conference which came after the US president announced he had signed a peace agreement with Tehran.
Trump had earlier described his Israeli counterpart as a “very difficult guy” who should be “very thankful” to the US.
But Netanyahu added that they are partners, therefore they often agree and sometimes disagree.
Trump
earlier said a peace deal with Iran is “all signed” and that the
Strait of Hormuz
is fully open to traffic, following weeks of tense negotiations
during a fragile ceasefire
.
Speaking shortly after arriving in Evian, France, for a G7 meeting, Trump also said the full text of the Iran deal would be released after a signing ceremony on Friday.
A senior administration official said shortly before Trump’s comments that Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon is not a condition of the deal.

Iran warns US to 'be careful' after Trump threat
ET Online
US President Donald Trump and Iran Supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei
Burgenstock: Iran warned the United States on Sunday to "be careful" after President Donald Trump threatened to strike the Islamic republic over its support for Hezbollah, even as the arch-foes held talks in Switzerland seeking a deal to permanently end the Middle East war.
The negotiations to end a war that sowed chaos across the Middle East and rattled the global economy are meant to trigger a 60-day period to settle broader issues that have dogged US-Iranian relations for decades.
But disagreement over key sticking points and the threat of renewed fighting in Lebanon weighed on the talks, with Washington and Tehran exchanging threats in parallel with the negotiations.

The military offensive against Iran had begun as a joint US-Israeli operation, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was caught off guard by US PresidentDonald Trump's announcement on Thursdaythat he had cancelled planned military strikes on Iran and was moving towards a potential agreement with Tehran, according to a report that said the Israeli leader had not been informed in advance of the development.
Trump on Thursday claimed thatIran's leadership hadapproved a draft memorandum of understandingthat could pave the way for a 60-day ceasefire, the reopening of theStrait of Hormuz, and fresh negotiations over Tehran's nuclear programme. Based on those developments, Trump said he had called off the planned US strikes against Iran.
According to a source familiar with the matter, Netanyahu did not receive advance notice before Trump publicly disclosed the proposed agreement, US news outletAxiosreported.
However, after the announcement, Trump spoke with Netanyahu about the deal, and the Israeli prime minister expressed his appreciation for the US president, Netanyahu's office said.

US President Donald Trump
US President
Donald Trump
on Sunday called out Israeli attacks on Beirut, as the strikes might hinder the
Iran peace deal
, which was set to be signed on Sunday, saying "let's not blow it."
"This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran. Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very small and meaningless, nobody was hurt, injured, or killed, and should not disrupt this important process," he said in a post on Truth Social.

Trump 'perturbed' by Netanyahu 'constantly fighting with Lebanon'
Iran fired on Israel following Israeli strikes in the Lebanese capital Beirut.
President Donald Trump announced "major combat operations" against Iran on Feb. 28, with massive joint U.S.-Israeli strikes targeting military, government and infrastructure sites.
Following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire, initial U.S.-Iran talks in Pakistan in April failed to reach a peace deal.
Trump later announced the open-ended extension of the ceasefire and the continuation of a U.S. blockade until negotiations are concluded "one way or the other."
In a wide ranging interview on Pod Force One taped Tuesday afternoon at the White House, President Donald Trump seemingly confirmed the strong language he used on his call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this week, saying he "wasn't angry," but was "a little bit perturbed" by Israel "constantly fighting with Lebanon."
Trump also pushed back on the suggestion that Netanyahu "tricked" him into going to war with Iran. "I heard that the other day for the first time. They said he tricked me. I mean, I'm the one that started it, because again, I don't want …

President Donald Trump opposed an Israeli plan to kill Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to two sources, amid ongoing
waves of tit-for-tat strikes between Israel and Iran
as the US president is making publicly and privately clear he prefers to keep the United States out of the fray for now.
Over the weekend, one senior US official told CNN, the Israelis had an opportunity to kill Iran’s supreme leader. The US communicated to Israel that Trump opposed that plan, the senior official said, and the plan was not executed. Trump is eager to de-escalate, wary of becoming bogged in another Middle East war and highly attuned to the changing politics of his party.

He posted his efforts to broker a deal in real time on his social media site.
The past 24 hours in theIsrael-Iran war have been been highlighted by President Donald Trump's whirlwind diplomatic efforts, aimed at being seen as a peacemaker amid the conflict.
The world seesawed between fears of escalation as Iran retaliated against the United States to Trump's surprise ceasefire announcement to his angry comments about early violations from both countries.
Notably, the president narrated the fast-changing developments in real time on his conservative social media site, showing, in often personal terms, his style of dealmaking diplomacy -- and his mounting frustration with both sides.
Here's how the sometimes dizzying sequence of events unfolded.

The remarks came after a renewed cease…

It almost fell apart. Hours before the United States
announced a peace deal
on Sunday, an Israeli airstrike on Beirut threatened to blow up months of delicate negotiations and send the nearly four-month conflict spiraling further out of control. What followed was a tense, chaotic stretch of hours that ended with President Trump declaring the deal complete and ordering the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The trouble started Sunday morning. The Israeli military struck what it described as a Hezbollah command center in the suburbs of Beirut, following drone attacks launched by Hezbollah into Israeli territory. No injuries resulted from the drone strikes. The Israeli airstrike, however, killed three people and wounded 15 others, according to Lebanese state media.

Israel and Iran said they would halt strikes on each other for now but warned of forceful responses to any future aggression – ending, at least temporarily, an exchange of missile attacks that put a fragile ceasefire and diplomatic efforts in peril.
Iran's armed forces issued a statement Monday announcing it would cease attacks but said continued Israeli military operations, including in Lebanon, would be met with "far more severe and crushing measures." Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu
said Israel will respond to any attacks from Iran or its proxies "with might," adding that the war "has not yet ended."
The announcements come after
President Donald Trump
on Monday demanded that both sides stop "shooting." In a subsequent post on social media, Trump said
the countries wanted a ceasefire
and negotiations toward a peace agreement were proceeding, "subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in its way."

Donald Trump issued a new warning to Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday amid mounting concern that Israel’s parallel
war with Hezbollah could derail the entire peace process with Iran
.
“Israel would have been blown up a long time ago, had I not got involved,” the US president told reporters in France
ahead of a meeting with G7 leaders
on ensuring stability in the Middle East.
Trump repeated his claim that “
without the United States, there would be no Israel
” and urged Israel’s prime minister to “be more responsible” on Lebanon.
The president’s latest dressing down came as Iran warned that continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon would be considered a breach of the interim agreement to end the war, announced on Sunday.

military campaign in Lebanon
against the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militant group. The interim deal is meant to stop fighting on all fronts, including Lebanon. Iran has said talks must first address that issue.
The U.S. says shipping traffic on the crucial waterway continues, and Trump has threatened to impose American tolls in the strait if a final deal with Iran isn’t reached in 60 days. Other issues include unfreezing billions of dollars in Iranian assets and addressing the heart of tensions:
Iran's nuclear program.

US President Donald Trump has declared that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will have no choice but to accept whatever deal the United States negotiates with Iran. Trump made the statement whilst speaking to the Financial Times shortly after
Iran launched a salvo of ballistic missiles

Israel

In the telephone interview with the Financial Times, Trump was blunt about where power sits in the US-Israel relationship. "He won't have any choice," Trump said of Netanyahu. "I call the shots. I call all the shots. He doesn't call the shots."

President Trump condemned a deadly strike carried out by Israel in Lebanon Sunday morning, further complicating negotiations for a deal to end the war between the U.S. and Iran.
"This morning's attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran," Trump wrote in a
post
on the social media platform Truth Social."There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel. This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace — Let's not blow it!"
