Pittsburgh police cruiser strikes vehicle, two injured
A Pittsburgh police officer and a civilian driver were transported to the hospital in stable condition Saturday night after a police cruiser struck the civilian’s vehicle in Allentown.
At about 9:40 p.m., a Zone 3 police officer was traveling on Arlington Avenue while responding to a call when a vehicle pulled out from Knox Avenue and into the officer’s path.
Emily Bourne, a spokeswoman for the Pittsburgh Police Department, said the police cruiser hit the vehicle, causing it to spin and collide with a telephone pole.
Both drivers were transported to the hospital in stable condition with minor injuries. The officer suffered a hand injury and the civilian driver reported neck and back pain, Bourne said.
The Collision Investigation Unit is investigating.
“No charges are expected at this time,” Bourne said.
