Iran says the US war deal requires Israel to withdraw from Lebanon
Iran says the US war deal requires Israel to withdraw from Lebanon Iran’s Foreign Minister says the tentative agreement to end the war with the United States would require Israel to withdraw from Lebanon — a condition Israel has already rejected. (Produced by Elaine Carroll) U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he is “not happy with the way Israel has handled themselves with Lebanon and with Hezbollah.” A man who returns to his village following the announcement of an initial ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, flashes victory sign as he stands on the rubble of his destroyed house in Nabatiyeh town, southern Lebanon, Tuesday, June 16, 2026. US 'rebuffs Israel's request to see Iran peace deal'
US 'rebuffs Israel's request to see Iran peace deal' The US denied Israel's request to view details of the Iran war peace deal,The Jerusalem Postreports. Israel wanted to see the newly agreed-upon Memorandum of Understanding before the signing ceremony, which is expected to take place in Switzerland later this week. But US President Donald Trump is said to have turned down the request. President Trump said on Tuesday that he would read the deal "word for word," but did not say when. Details of the agreement have not yet been been published but it is said to have 14 separate clauses, including the withdrawal of the IDF from southern Lebanon, the reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and the release of $24 billion dollars of sanctioned funds. Israel has not confirmed if the IDF will pull back from Lebanon. A source told The Jerusalem Post that if Hezbollah respects the ceasefire, the IDF will not launch attacks in Lebanon. Israel Reportedly Took Iran's Araghchi, Qalibaf Off Hit List after ... Israel took Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf off its hit list after Pakistan requested that Washington not target them, a Pakistani source with knowledge of the discussions told Reuters on Thursday. "The Israelis had their coordinates and wanted to take them out, we told the US if they are also eliminated then there is no one else to talk to, hence the US asked the Israelis to back off," the source said. Pakistan's military and foreign office did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The Wall Street Journal first reported that the two top Iranian officials had been temporarily removed from Israel's list of officials to eliminate as they explore possible peace talks. The two officials have been removed from the list for up to four or five days, the Journal said, citing US officials, but did not mention any Pakistani role in it. Pakistan, Egypt and Türkiye are playing the role of mediator between Tehran and Washington to end the Iran war. Islamabad has maintained direct contact with both Washington and Tehran at a time when such channels are fr…

Deal may be seen as 'betrayal' in Israel, says former PM - RTÉ
Deal may be seen as 'betrayal' in Israel, says former PM - RTÉ Updated / Tuesday, 16 Jun 2026 20:23 Ehud Olmert said that Israel should withdraw from Lebanon Former prime minister of Israel Ehud Olmert has said that the potential peace deal between Iran and the US may be seen as a betrayal in Israel. Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, he said: "I think that maybe for the point of view of the original position of Netanyahu, it may be interpreted as a betrayal, although he will never admit it because he is entirely, completely dependent on the relations and support of President Trump." US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had used the ambitions of ending Iran's support for regional armed proxies and curbing its missile programme as justifications for their war on Iran. Neither of these points are thought to be on the agenda in upcoming negotiations. However, Mr Olmert said that there must be a degree of caution in judging the deal from an objective point of view as all of the details are not known. "We don't know every aspect of it, but as it appears, it seems that there is a big margin between the initial expectations of both America and Israel wh…
