President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his resounding victory in Saturday’s Ekiti State gubernatorial election. Mr Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress was declared the winner after polling a total of 319,224 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party’s Oluwole Oluyede and the African Democratic Congress’s Oludare Bejide who secured 40,543 and 12,872 respectively. Mr Tinubu, in a statement issued by his spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Sunday, also commended the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful and orderly conduct, and for reposing their trust in Mr Oyebanji. While lauding the law enforcement agencies for maintaining law and order, the president also charged the Independent National Electoral Commission to continue to invest in conducting a peaceful, free, fair and credible election ahead of the Osun governorship and the 2027 general elections.
