"In January, Kalashnikov shipped the first batch of upgraded AK-12 of the 2023 model to a client under state contracts for 2025," the press service said in a statement on the company website. The company expanded its machine stock and continued to upgrade production and improve technological processes in 2024, the press service said. On September 12, 2024, Kalashnikov President Alan Lushnikov said that the company was working on a compact AK-12 modification. In March 2018, the Russian military formally confirmed commissioning new products of Kalashnikov, AK-12 and AK-15 as well as of the Degtyaryov Plant, AEK-971 and AEK-973 (6P67, 6P68). Earlier, Kalashnikov said it made some adjustments to the AK-12 rifle of the 2023 model, compared to the 2018 model, consistent with the technical assignment of the Russian Defense Ministry. In particular, it upgraded the diopter sight and made the safety control system double-sided.
