After rising up the rankings following reaching a US Open final and winning the Indian Wells title, Draper was on top of the world. He was tipped to challenge the best players in the world and was a shining light on British tennis.
A year on, and it has not gone to plan. An arm injury picked up at Wimbledon saw him miss the rest of the 2026 campaign after just one match at the US Open. His comeback was delayed again and again before eventually returning to the court.
He made an impression at Indian Wells, defeating Novak Djokovic in the last-16 before his title defence came to an end against a very impressive Daniil Medvedev. Since then, match fitness and sharpness has proved to be lacking. His clay swing was finishedfollowing a knee injurypicked up at the Barcelona Open. A Madrid Open final defence never occurred and from debuting in the top five, Draper is now outside the top 100…

Jack Draper has barely played on the ATP Tour this season due to some frustrating injuries – but Andy Murray isn’t worried.
Just over a month ago, the three-time major winner joined Draper’s coaching staff following the departure of Jamie Delgado.
Murray has come on board to coach the 24-year-old for the grass court season, and while it may extend into North America, the Scot doesn’t want to spend too long away from his young family.
Draper, on the other hand, hasn’t played since picking up a knee injury at the Barcelona Open on 13 April. Indeed, he has just nine matches to his name this campaign.
As he prepares to make his long-awaited return to the
ATP Tour
at Eastbourne next week, Murray has issued a positive update on his new charge.
