Japanese seed No 14 Naomi Osaka reached the fourth round of Wimbledon for the first time in her career on Friday, dismantling Australian Daria Kasatkina 6-1, 6-3 to move into the second week at the All England Club for the first time in a 13-year professional career.
The four-time Grand Slam champion, twice a winner at both the Australian Open and the US Open, has never enjoyed a comparable run on grass, and she made short work of the barrier here. Osaka was clinical from the outset, racing through the opening set for the loss of a single game and never surrendering control of the second.
She struck 25 winners to 13 unforced errors, served five aces without a double…

The Japanese superstar entered No.1 Court in her latest showstopping outfit, having dispensed with the kimono and obi and opting instead for flowing full-length, blossom-patterned coat.
You have to be pretty good to get away with swanning in like that, and, sure enough, Osaka really did then offer an impression of her supreme Grand Slam-winning best as she stormed into the fourth round of Wimbledon for the first time with a rampant 6-1 6-3 triumph.
Kasatkina, who played by no means poorly as she switched up the variety in her crafty game to contend in the second set, still ultimately couldn't cope with the barrage of 25 winners that flowed from the former world No.1's racquet in a fairly brutal 65-minute demolition job.
Kasatkina's exit meant that Alex de Minaur is in the familiar position of being the last Australian left in the singles draws. He plays American Zachary Svajda in the third round on…

LONDON, July 3 - Naomi Osaka continued to make a statement at Wimbledon as she paired her flair off the court with growing confidence on it to dismiss unseeded Australian Daria Kasatkina 6-1 6-3 on Friday and reach the last 16 for the first time.
Widely regarded as one of tennis's top fashion trailblazers, Osaka has attracted plenty of attention for eye-catching dresses in the first week, but the four-times Grand Slam champion from Japan is increasingly letting her tennis do the talking.
After shedding another variation of her "Kill Bill" kimono walk-on ensemble - which this time was a flower-patterned robe - the 14th seed mixed power with precision to see off Kasatkina and continue her best run at the All England Club.
The 28-year-old fired a backhand winner to break Russian-born Kasatkina in the second game and then backed it up with a deep forehand to claim a double break as she raced through …

No. 10 seedKarolina MuchovadefeatedNaomi Osaka7-6 (4), 6-4 on Tuesday to reach her first Wimbledon semifinal.
The 14th-seeded Osaka, who knocked out world No. 1-rankedAryna Sabalenkain the previous round, entered the day as the only player in the men's or women's draw who had yet to drop a set.
After being broken twice in 37 games over her first four matches, Osaka was broken twice in the first set alone. She committed four double faults and had 32 unforced errors for the match, both her most this tournament.
"It's hard because I played so well in my last match, then today I just feel like I didn't play well at all and I didn't have any energy," said Osaka, who despite the loss still had her best result at the All England Club by reaching the quarterfinals.
"I could feel it coming because I've played way more matches than I usually do before a Slam," she added. "I just wanted to try that to see the rhythm, you know? Obviously, it worked out well. But I think I probably won't do that again. But yeah, I would say it was like an accumulation of playing two weeks straight without a day off."
It was a rematch of the Bad …

THE ALL ENGLAND CLUB, London —Naomi Osaka’s transformation into a titan of grass-court tennis took its biggest leap forward Sunday, as she knocked Aryna Sabalenka out of Wimbledon in straight sets.
Osaka was nearly untouchable on a warm, still evening in London, unlike anything she could have imagined for herself before this year. For a fourth consecutive match, Osaka crushed her serve and groundstrokes, pushing the world No. 1 onto her heels and leaving her swatting desperately for balls that cruised and skidded past her.

With a 6-2, 7-6(2) victory, Osaka had her biggest win since she returned to the tour after pregnancy in 2024, and perhaps even since her last Grand Slam title win, all the way back in February of 2021. This win also means Osaka makes the quarterfinals of Wimbledon for the first time.
For Sabalenka, it was another difficult result, in an early summer that has had far more of them than she might have anticipated after her mostly scintil…

Wimbledon
title was ended by Karolína Muchova in the quarter-finals.
The four-time
Grand Slam
champion had never previously made it beyond the third round at SW19 but enjoyed a career-best run on the grass courts.
Osaka was
sensational in beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the previous round
but she could not back that up here. The drop-off in her level was stark.
Muchova came out on top 7-6 6-4 in a tight encounter and she will now face Coco Gauff in the semi-finals on Thursday.
The 29-year-old lost in the first round at Wimbledon in each of the last four years, but had previously made consecutive quarter-finals before that run.
Muchova has been in better form on the surface this year and she won the Bad Homburg Open last month when Osaka retired in the final.
“Oh my God, I was nervous," Muchova said.
"She’s an unbelievable athlete. So many times we’ve played. A week ago in a tournament against each other. We know each other pretty well at this point.
"I know you can’t lose that focus. You have to still keep going and play ever…

ALL ENGLAND CLUB, London — After a miserable few years at Wimbledon,Karolína Muchováis where she belongs — in the semifinals.
Having exited at the first-round stage in each of her previous four visits to this tournament, Muchová underlined why she is widely considered to be the most natural grass-court player left in the 2026 draw with a 7-6(4), 6-4 victory overNaomi Osaka, setting up a last-four meeting withCoco Gauff.

Given how wellOsakahad played in outclassing the world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the previous round, this was a statement win from Muchová. Her exquisite shotmaking skills are well known — and her volleys and slices have long marked her out as a player who should thrive on grass — but this was also an exhibition of doing the basics well. She served beautifully and frequently outlasted Osaka from the back of the court.
Having never even reached the fourth round of Wimbledon previously, this has still been …
