Gov Radda Offers Amnesty, Reintegration to Repentant Bandits in Katsina
Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has assured bandits operating in forests across the North-West that the government is prepared to support and reintegrate those who genuinely abandon criminal activities and embrace peace.
Tribune reports that the governor made the appeal during the inauguration of 152 housing units built for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Jibia Local Government Area of the state on Thursday, June 11.
Governor Radda urged those involved in banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes to lay down their arms and return to their communities, stressing that lasting peace and prosperity can only be achieved through lawful means and honest labour.
“To those our brothers and sisters in the bush or in the forest, to those who still raise weapons against our own people, to those who have taken to banditry, kidnapping and violence, hear me very well today. There is a better way.
The doors for dialogue, repentance and reintegration remain open to you. Lay down your arms, come back to your families, come back to your communities.

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, has chided the ongoing peace deal with bandits in the state, describing it as meaningless since bandits don’t surrender their weapons.
Inuwa, a former state Director-General for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign team, lamented that bandits have continued to perpetrate atrocities in parts of the state despite the peace deal.
His criticism followed peace negotiations entered into by about a dozen frontline council areas that have been faced with incessant security challenges in the state.
During such peace negotiations, most of the bandits in attendance were seen wielding automatic weapons, with many of them wearing military camouflage uniforms and boots.
The development, which has elicited negative reactions from some quarters including the Human Rights Writers Association (HURIWA), has, however, been seen as a sign of achievement b…

Lay down your arms': Radda renews dialogue offer to bandits
Katsina Governor Dikko Radda is once more extending an olive branch to armed bandits hiding out in the forests across Nigeria's North-west region, calling on them to surrender their weapons and return to their communities.
The governor's renewed appeal signals that dialogue remains on the table, even as banditry continues to unsettle daily life for millions of people across the region. Radda is making clear that the door is open, though he has not closed off other options for restoring order.
Whether the bandits respond this time around is the question everyone in the North-west is waiting to have answered.
