Russia and Ukraine continued to exchange air attacks on June 14, as indefinitely paused peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv appear to be overshadowed by developments on the battlefield.
A fresh wave of Ukrainian drone attacks inside Russian regions targeted Russia's key oil facility and a chemical plant, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, adding that Kyiv's deep strikes were in response to "Russias refusal to end this war."
"Ukraine is carrying out its plan of long-range sanctions against Russia," he wrote in an X post, as he shared videos of thick pillars of smoke purportedly rising from an oil facility in Russia's Yaroslavl region and the Azot chemical plant in the Tula region, one of the country's biggest suppliers of fertilizers.

Russia fired a total of 381 drones and 35 missiles at Ukraine, according to Ukraine’s air force. in what officials was an attempt towreck the Ukrainian power gridahead of winter and wear down public appetite for the3-year-old conflict.
“This is deliberate terror against civilian facilities that provide gas extraction and processing for the normal life of people,” Serhii Koretskyi, chief executive of Ukraine’s state-owned gas company Naftogaz, said in a statement. “It has no military purpose. This is yet another act of Russian malice aimed solely at disrupting the heating season and depriving Ukrainians of warmth in winter.”
Russia aimed 35 missiles, many of them ballistic, and 60 drones at Naftogaz’s gas extraction and processing facilities in the northeastern Kharkiv and central Poltava regions, some of which sustained critical damage, Koretskyi said.

The US is considering Ukraine's request to obtain long-range Tomahawk missiles for its effort to push back against Russia
A fire sparked by a Ukrainian drone strike killed a child and grandmother in a town outside Moscow overnight, Russian authorities said today.
Throughout the war, Russia has fired hundreds of drones at Ukraine in nightly barrages. Kyiv has launched retaliatory strikes, mainly targeting energy infrastructure.
"Last night, air defence forces shot down four drones in Voskresensk and Kolomna," two cities southeast of Russia's capital, regional governor Andrey Vorobyov said on Telegram.
"Unfortunately, a tragedy occurred in Voskresensk: two people died in a fire in a private home - a 76-year-old woman and her six-year-old grandson," he added.
Several other buildings in Voskresensk, 88kms (55 miles) southeast of Moscow, were damaged, Mr Vorobyov said.
Russia's defence ministry said 84 Ukrainian drones were "intercepted and destroyed by air defence alert systems during the night". Four were shot down over the Moscow region.

Ukraine struck a key oil terminal in the Russian port city of Novorossiysk overnight, causing infrastructure damage and igniting a blaze, as deadly overnight Russian strikes pounded Kyiv.
The depot, one of Russia’s largest oil export facilities, was targeted by Ukrainian forces in an attack acknowledged by officials from both countries that highlights Kyiv’s escalating efforts to target a key source of war revenue for Russia.
The Ukrainian General Staff said damage was caused to “valuable” infrastructure at the port and oil terminal, as well as a launcher from Russia’s S400 air defense system.
Ukrainian weapons were used in the attack on Novorossiysk, including long-range Neptune missiles and various types of strike UAVs, the General Staff said. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine had launched the domestically produced long-range Nept…
Putin Says Ukraine Drone Strikes Aim to Divide Russians
Putin Says Ukraine Drone Strikes Aim to Divide Russians
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday that Ukraine's increasing drone strikes on Russia aimed to "sow confusion" and damage the country's economy.
Ukraine has hit ever deeper into Russia in recent months, regularly hitting oil refineries and export hubs.
"Their goal is to create a split in Russian society, sow confusion and inflict economic damage," Putin told Russian soldiers in a Kremlin meeting.
"But they will not succeed," he added.
The comments came hours after Kyiv said it hit a major oil refinery over 1,000 kilometers (around 620 miles) from the front line.
Putin admitted that Ukrainian strikes had caused "economic damage" but claimed that "everything is quickly restored".
It has been difficult to assess just how damaging the strikes on Russian energy infrastructure have been.
Ukraine has called the strikes fair retaliation for Russia's daily barrage of drones and missiles sent to Ukrainian towns and cities.
Putin said Moscow must improve its air defenses, in the second such call this month.
The Russian leader compared the West to 19th century French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and 20th century German Nazi leader…

Moscow downed over five dozen drones on Thursday, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Telegram, and a Reuters witness saw flames and plumes of smoke over the southeastern district of Kapotnya where the Moscow refinery is located.
“Air defense forces continue to repel a massive attack. Several drones managed to reach the Moscow oil refinery,” Sobyanin said, adding that a shopping centre also suffered minor damage.
The attack is the second in just a few days after a drone strike on Tuesday halted operations at the refinery, sources said, adding to widespread damage to Russian energy facilities and extending a fuel crisis deeper into the country.

Russia declared a missile alert in Sverdlovsk and Orenburg oblasts and in Perm Krai for the first time since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, marking an expansion of air-raid warnings deep inside the country, officials said on Feb. 27.
The governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast, Denis Pasler, urged residents not to go outside and, if they were already outdoors, to find a “solid building or an underground shelter.”
Missile danger alerts were also declared in Penza, Samara and Saratov oblasts, as well as in the republics of Chuvashia and Udmurtia.

For the first time, a missile danger regime was also introduced in Tatarstan and Bashkortostan.
Residents were urged not to use elevators and to move to basements or parking garages. Those in apartments were advised to take shelter in windowless rooms and to close windows and curtains.

Ukraine scales up drone attacks in Moscow, across Russia to record ...
The size and regularity of Ukraine's drone attacks are steadily increasing.
LONDON --Ukraine is significantly expanding its long-range drone attacks on targets across Russia -- including the capital Moscow -- according to data published by the Russian Defense Ministry, as the Kremlin's four-year-old full-scale invasion of its neighbor grinds on with little apparent hope for a peace deal or for the Russian victory that President Vladimir Putin has framed as inevitable.
May saw the Russian Defense Ministry claim the shooting down of 9,418 Ukrainian drones -- the highest monthly total ever reported by the ministry -- according to public statements analyzed by ABC News.
And even in Moscow, which open-source intelligence analysts say has been ringed by more than 100 air defense systems amid Ukraine's expanding strike campaign, the threat from Kyiv appears to be more present than ever before.
In regular posts to Telegram, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported the shooting down of at least 329 Ukrainian drones heading toward the Russian capital in May -- the second highest monthly total of the war at an average ra…

Ukrainian drones on Sunday struck an oil depot in southern Russia and a pumping station hundreds of kilometres from the front, Kyiv said, with Russian officials confirming strikes in the areas.
Kyiv has stepped up strikes on Moscow's infrastructure in the fifth year of war, hitting targets as far as the Urals in recent weeks.
Its army said drones hit a "dispatch station of a major oil pipeline" in Russia's Kirov region and an oil depot in the Rostov region, near occupied Ukraine.
It said the pipeline transported oil from Siberia to western Russia and Belarus.
The governor of the Kirov region, Alexander Sokolov, only said that Ukrainian drones had hit a "facility" and caused a fire, claiming no casualties and calling for calm.
In the town of Matveyev-Kurgan in the southern Rostov region, regularly hit by Kyiv, local officials introduced a state of emergency over a huge blaze at an oil depot hit by a drone.

60000 People Stuck in Russian Airports Amid Drone Strikes
At least 60,000 passengers had their flights delayed or canceled at airports across Russia as Ukraine unleashed large-scale drone attacks this week, according to a national tourism body.
Russia's association of tour operatorssaid in a statementon Wednesday that at least 350 flights were affected by the threat of drone strikes, including trips out of the country to destinations such as Istanbul and Dubai.
The affected facilities included Moscow's four airports and air travel hubs in the regions of Sochi, Kazan, and Kirov, per the association. Its statement said many of the flights were delayed overnight, while some flights that did manage to depart had to wait up to seven hours.
Russian independent Telegram news channels posted photos of large crowds gathering in airports and stranded passengers resting in departure hall areas.
"This delay will provoke subsequent delays according to the domino principle," the tourism operators' association warned.
"The aviation infrastructure is working at its limit," it added.
It advised travelers across the country to prepare for further disruption by bringing cash to buy food and dr…

Ukrainian drones set a major Moscow refinery ablaze for the second time in a week, sending black smoke over the capital, briefly grounding flights and exposing vulnerabilities far from Ukraine’s front lines.
Kyiv’s expanded long-range drone campaign aims to choke Russian oil revenues and supply lines, as fuel shortages and gas-station limits belie Kremlin assurances that Moscow’s energy lifeline remains secure.
The strike followed Zelensky’s calls with U.S. and European leaders at the G-7, even as Kremlin missile attacks kill civilians and Western support shifts, with Europe shouldering more of Ukraine’s defense.

Russia fired hundreds of drones at Ukraine between late Thursday and early Friday, killing seven people and destroying a factory that produces milk products for children, authorities said. Moscow and Kyiv have intensified drone strikes on each other in recent months as US-led diplomatic efforts to end the war, now in its fifth year, remain stalled over the conflict in the Middle East. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a meeting with Vladimir Putin in an open letter to the Russian leader late Thursday, saying it was only the leaders who could resolve "key issues".

Black smoke and flames erupted over Moscow on Thursday after Ukraine targeted an oil refinery in Moscow for the second time this week. As videos of the attack gained traction on social media, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that this attack was a “justified response” to recent Russian attacks on Kyiv.
The Ukrainian attack comes as a response to recent air raids by Russia in Kyiv. Earlier this week, at least 11 people were killed after a missile and drone barrage at the Dormition Cathedral, which is part of the UNESCO-listed Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery complex.
As per Ukrainian officials, the Russian attack, which struck multiple cities, including the capital, was one of the most destructive aerial bombardments on Kyiv’s cultural and civilian infrastructure in months.
“This is a fully justified response to Russian attacks on our cities and communities, and another important result of our warriors’ work against facilities that sustain Russia’s war machine,” said Zelensky on X.

News of the damage must surely have found its way into the most isolated of bunkers.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has been accused of secluding himself from the deteriorating realities of his invasion of Ukraine. But the staggering images from Moscow’s skyline on Thursday surely mark a moment when even the thickest levels of insulation around the Kremlin head cannot shield him from the sound of repeated blasts just 10 miles away that obliterated refineries leading to thick black smoke wafting over Russia’s capital.
Videos posted by Russians to social media tell two stories. First, of air defenses in the capital – all apparent three rings of them – pierced by cheap, mass-produced drones that Ukraine was once on the bitter receiving end of but now fires back nightly at Russia. A refinery lid blown clean off. Multiple fires raging 10 miles from the Kremlin itself. An environmental disaster surely unfolding. The damage itself will impact fu…

Ukrainian long-range drones struck an oil terminal in St. Petersburg and set it ablaze, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday, sending smoke billowing over the city where President Vladimir Putin was born as it hosts Russia’s leading event for attracting foreign capital.
The drones flew more than 1,000 kilometers (600 miles) to hit the terminal in Russia’s second-largest city, Zelenskyy said on social media, a day after Moscow launched a major

MOSCOW, Russia: Russia's second-largest city, St Petersburg, and the nearby region were hit by a large Ukrainian drone attack overnight on July 4. Local officials from both Russia and Ukraine said a port and oil facilities were targeted.
These attacks are adding to fuel shortages in Russia.

Ukraine hit a major Moscow oil refinery for a second time in a week, sending thick black clouds of smoke into the sky, and disrupted commercial flights at the city’s airports in one of its biggest drone attacks of the war.
Russian air defences shot down at least 194
drones
headed for the city, according to Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin. It was part of a major, long-range attack across parts of Russia, with air defences intercepting 555 drones overall, according to the Russian ministry of defence.
“Air defence forces are continuing to repel a large-scale attack. Several drones managed to reach the [Moscow oil refinery],” said Mr Sobyanin. At least seven of Ukraine’s drones appear to have beaten Russia’s air defences to strike targets in the city.
Ukraine’s president
Volodymyr Zelensky
said the attack was in response to repeated aerial assaults on Ukraine by Vladimir Putin’s forces.
“We don’t want this war, we never did, and everyone knows it, and our partners know it,” the president said in a voice message sent to reporters on a WhatsApp group. “But if Ukraine burns, your Moscow will burn.”

capital, forcing the shutdown of all four of its international airports. Within just an hour, Russian air defence systems reportedly shot down 11 drones, prompting aviation authorities to ground flights and impose sweeping safety restrictions. The Russian civil aviation agency Rosaviatsia said in a press release that air traffic restrictions have been imposed at all four international airports, namely, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Zhukovsky and Sheremetyevo, due to safety concerns.
"Air defences have intercepted another UAV flying towards Moscow," mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on his Max channel. "Thus, the total number of downed drones has reached 11," Sobyanin wrote in his latest social media post at 4 pm (local time).

MOSCOW - Ukraine on Thursday launched its largest drone attack on Moscow in years, sparking fires in and around the capital, hitting a major oil refinery and forcing evacuations at the country’s largest airport, officials said.
AFP reporters saw large columns of black smoke spreading over the capital’s southern skyline in dramatic scenes, while flames could be seen burning on part of an oil complex in the southern Kapotnya district.
A strong, unpleasant smell hung in the air, as the fire burned at the refinery through the morning.
The strikes came as Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted Southeast Asian leaders at a summit in the central city of Kazan, about 700 kilometres east of the capital.

Prepared by Dayana Bozhyk
Ukrainian drones struck Moscow for the third consecutive day on June 19, with the capital’s mayor reporting 37 more intercepted drones even as Russia confirmed the Moscow Oil Refinery had suspended operations indefinitely following the previous night’s record attack. Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov published a 2,000-word essay rejecting the Ukraine-Europe peace proposal and reiterated Russia’s maximalist demands. Zelensky gave Belarus one week to dismantle communications equipment Russia uses to guide drone strikes into Ukraine — or warned Ukraine would do it instead. Eleven civilians were killed and 63 injured across Ukraine, including an eight-year-old girl in Dnipropetrovsk. Russia’s Central Bank cut its key interest rate despite acknowledging that Ukraine’s strikes are driving up inflation, while Rosneft’s CEO publicly denied fuel shortages that 53 Russian regions are actively rationing.

London:A drone strike on a Moscow oil depot has set off a fiery blast that sent the lid of a storage tank high into the air, in a new demonstration of Ukraine’s ability to reach targets deep inside Russia.
The explosion spread flames and black smoke throughout the facility on the outskirts of the Russian capital, inflicting economic pain on the Kremlin by hampering its ability to generate revenue from oil exports.
Ukrainian leaders cited the attack as a warning to the Russian people about the threat they faced if Russian President Vladimir Putin refused to negotiate a peace deal.
“This is a fully justified response to Russian attacks on our cities and communities, and another important result of our warriors’ work against facilities that sustain Russia’s war machine,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Ukraine hit a major Moscow oil refinery for a second time in a week and disrupted commercial flights at Moscow airports in one of its biggest drone attacks since Russia’sall-out invasionof its neighbor more than four years ago, Russian officials said Thursday.
The attack came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had held “an important coordination call” with U.S. President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron that may “bring about significant change.”
Zelenskyy said Wednesday his country had wonkey pledges of further supportfrom world leaders attending the G7 summit in France, including the United States.
Images and video released by the Russian media showed massive fires raging at the Moscow Oil Refinery, located about 15 kilometers (9 miles) from the Kremlin. Thick black clouds of smoke rose over the city.
The Moscow Oil Refinery is one of Russia’s biggest refineries, according to its official website, and accounts for more than a third of the fuel market of the capital region. It was last attacked by Ukrainian drones on June 16, catching fire, but officials said the bl…

A fire broke out at one of Russia's Black Sea ports on Sunday after a Ukrainian drone strike, wounding at least two people, officials said. The strike comes days ahead of fresh U.S.-brokered talks aimed at ending the nearly
4-year-old war.
The strike on the port of Taman in the Krasnodar region damaged an oil storage tank, warehouse and terminals, according to regional Gov. Veniamin Kondratyev. Meanwhile, falling debris from Russian drones damaged civilian and transport infrastructure in Ukraine's Odesa region, officials said, disrupting the power and water supply.
Kondratyev said that more than 100 people were working to put out several fires at the port, according to Reuters. He added that strikes hit the resort city of Sochi and the village of Yurovka, causing less significant damage.

A Ukrainian drone attack killed one person and injured three others in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region on Saturday.
Local governor Veniamin Kondratyev said falling drone debris started a fire at a sea terminal. While he didn’t provide specifics, Russian news outlets reported the damage happened in the village of Volna at an export terminal that handles crude oil, petroleum products, and liquefied gas.
The strike is part of an ongoing campaign by Kyiv to hit military and energy targets deep inside Russian territory. Ukraine’s General Staff didn’t specifically mention the Krasnodar strike on Saturday. However, they did confirm that their forces hit an oil preparation and pumping station in the Volgograd region overnight, along with targets in Russian-occupied parts of the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Meanwhile, Russian forces launched their own strikes across the border. In Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, drones and aerial bombs targeted three districts more than 20 times, according to a Saturday Telegram post by regional head Oleksandr Hanzha. The attacks se…

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has described Russia’s most recent aerial assault against Ukranian cities as the largest single-day attack, resulting in the deaths of at least eight civilians.
According to President Zelensky, who reported the attack on July 9, 2025,
Russia

“Most of the targets were shot down. Our interceptor drones were used – dozens of enemy targets were downed, and we are scaling up this technology. Mobile fire groups were also active – they downed dozens as well. I thank all our warriors for their precision,” said President Zelensky on social media.
The number of drones launched surpassed any previous days during the War and came just hours after US President Donald Trump rebuked the Russian President Vladimir Putin during a cabinet meeting.

Ukrainian long-range drones struck an oil terminal in St. Petersburg and set it ablaze, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday, sending smoke billowing over the city where President Vladimir Putin was born as it hosts Russia's leading event for attracting foreign capital.
The drones flew more than 600 miles to hit the terminal in Russia's second-largest city, Zelenskyy said on social media, a day after Moscow launched a major drone and missile attack on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.
Russian authorities said only that the Ukrainian drone strike targeted St. Petersburg's infrastructure, without providing details. The city's airport briefly suspended flights overnight because of the attack. Authorities cut off mobile internet services.
The latest strikes are another embarrassment for Putin, weeks after he pruned back an annual Victory Day parade in Moscow because of fears of Ukrainian drone attacks.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) —Ukraine kept up its heavy drone assault on Russia, setting fire to a major oil refinery in the south and killing at least two people, Russian authorities said Sunday, as President Vladimir Putin acknowledged his country is going through a “difficult period.”
Ukraine has markedly stepped up its long-range attacks on Russian military industries and energy facilities in recent months, aiming to cut Moscow’s revenue for its invasion — now in its fifth year — and make Russians feel the consequences.
The campaign has choked Russian fuel supplies and military deliveries. According to Western analysts, it has also slowed Moscow’s efforts on the battlefield, heaping pressure on the Kremlin to come to the negotiating table.
“Our ‘long-range sanctions’ reached two oil refineries in Russia,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on the Telegram messaging app on Sunday. “Each (strike) means a reduction in the resources that fuel the Russian war machine, and another step toward peace.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov attributed Ukraine’s massive drone strike on Moscow on June 18 to its “difficult situation” at the front, the state-run Russian news outlet Vesti reported, citing remarks he made at a press briefing.
He said air defense systems had shown “high performance indicators — despite everything.”
“Look for more footage from various Ukrainian cities. The footage is impressive — showing the results of strikes by our armed forces. These strikes will continue,” Peskov said.
He added that Ukraine “is continuing its line” and that this “is not a desire to negotiate.”
“The ‘Kyiv regime’ is in a very difficult position. The situation at the fronts will soon become completely catastrophic for the Ukrainian side. That is what all of this [the attack on Moscow] is connected to,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said the attack on the museum was "a carefully planned provocation by London and its intelligence services."
"The Ukrainian military prepared and launched the drones. However, the Ukrainians were most likely unaware of the true purpose of the attack. The flight missions were uploaded into the weapon systems by British specialists," the Russian intelligence service said in a statement.
Note that in June this year, the authorities of Sevastopol reported a drone attack on the building of the "Defense of Sevastopol" panorama museum. Several hours later, the city's mayor announced that the panorama had been practically destroyed.

MOSCOW, July 4 (Reuters) - Authorities in Russia's second city of St Petersburg and the surrounding Leningrad region said on Saturday the area suffered a major Ukrainian drone attack overnight, with a Baltic Sea port that handles oil exports reported hit.

In brief:Russia’s Baltic Sea city in Russia’s second-most-important region saw Ukraine’s special forces set shadow tankers and an oil refinery ablaze, then ambush a fuel train within 72 hours.
Ukraine’s avowed campaign to destroy all Russian oil production capacity zeroed in on President Vladimir Putin’s hometown of St. Petersburg over the weekend. Punishing drone attacks hit an oil refinery, sanctioned oil tankers and the seaport in which they were tied up along with a fuel train in a daring behind-the-lines commando raid.
Starting late on Friday night operators from Ukraine’s 14th Unmanned Aircraft Regiment kicked off one of the most massive swarm air raids of the entire war, over the next four hours launching 220-230 long-range drones at targets across Russia. Approximately 30 kamikaze drones headed for Russia’s northwestern Leningrad region, and shortly after midnight dived one after the other on the Primorsk oil-pumping station.

Russia and Ukraine continued to exchange air attacks on June 14, as indefinitely paused peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv appear to be overshadowed by developments on the battlefield.
A fresh wave of Ukrainian drone attacks inside Russian regions targeted Russia's key oil facility and a chemical plant, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, adding that Kyiv's deep strikes were in response to "Russia’s refusal to end this war."
