Moscow has shot down dozens of drones and briefly suspended flights at airports, authorities in the Russian capital say, just days after Ukraine hit the city's oil refinery again.
Ukrainian authorities said Russian drones had hit civilian merchant vessels, killing an Egyptian crew member, while drone attacks elsewhere killed at least five people, including three members of the same family in Ukraine's northern Sumy region.
Almost 60 drones headed for Moscow were downed in the early hours of Monday, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Telegram.
He said emergency services had been dispatched to the areas where drones were downed but gave no further information.
The airports of Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo, as well as Zhukovskiy near the Russian capital, had suspended flights, though they were later resumed, the aviation watchdog said.
In total, Russian defence systems downed 301 drones overnight, local newswires said, citing the defence ministry.
That tally included Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine.

Russian authorities committed crimes against humanity targeting civilian population through drone attacks, as well as war crimes of forcible transfer and deportation of civilians
27 October 2025
NEW YORK / VIENNA, 27 October 2025
– Russian authorities have systematically coordinated actions to drive out Ukrainian civilians from their homes through recurrent drone attacks, as well as deportations and transfers, said the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine in
a new report
submitted to the UN General Assembly.
The present report establishes that Russian armed forces’ short-range drone attacks affected a wider geographic area, beyond the zone identified
in the investigation
published by the Commission in May 2025. The targeted area spans over 300 kilometres along the right bank of the Dnipro River, across Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv Oblasts. The cases documented demonstrate that military units of Russian armed forces operating from the left bank of the Dnipro River, under a centralized command, have used the same modus operandi to intentionally target civilians and civili…

A Russian drone attack killed a 59-year-old man in the city of Kherson in southern Ukraine, Kherson Oblast Governor Oleksandr Prokudin said on April 6.
"Sincere condolences to the relatives of the deceased," Prokudin said in a Telegram post, adding that the victim died on the spot after the attack at around 6:30 a.m.
Since Ukrainian forces liberated swathes of territory on the western bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast in 2022, Russia has relentlessly continued its attacks on civilians remaining in the area.
The drone attack on Kherson came as Russia launched 23 missiles and 109 drones across Ukraine overnight on April 6, according to the Air Force. Kyiv's local authorities have said that the ballistic missile attack on the capital killed one and wounded three.

The drone strike on the Starobilsk vocational college in Russian-occupied Luhansk region has become a contested incident in which the central facts remain unresolved. Russian-installed authorities say 21 people were killed after the college dormitory was hit.Reuters reportedfrom Starobilsk that forensic experts were examining the destroyed building, while noting that its access formed part of a Russian foreign ministry-organised media visit and that the agency could not independently verify either side’s account.
Moscow has presented the strike as an attack on a civilian educational facility. President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting a student dormitory, and Russian officials said that 86 teenagers were inside the building at the time. UKRAINE fought MOSCOW in Sheremetyevo, Khabarovskiy Kray, Russia
