Tamil Nadu achieved 93 percent pulse polio immunisation coverage on Sunday, according to New Indian Express. Chennai recorded 94 percent coverage, while Kancheepuram achieved 104 per cent and Chengalpattu achieved 101 per cent. Karur district recorded the lowest coverage at 83 per cent. A total of 65.3 lakh children received polio drops, according to New Indian Express, against a target of 70.26 lakh children below the age of five. According to The Hindu, 1.33 lakh children will be benefited by vaccination camps manned by 4,580 workers, and 74 mobile teams have been set up to reach children in Sri Lankan Tamils Rehabilitation Camps, nomadic communities, and those living in temporary sheds. In Kancheepuram, 1.07 lakh children were vaccinated against a target of 1.03 lakh; in Chengalpattu, 2.76 lakh were vaccinated against a target of 2.72 lakh. A total of 43,051 booths were set up in primary health centres and government hospitals, according to New Indian Express. Officials said the remaining children will be covered during door-to-door surveillance in coming days, and parents can also bring their children to nearby hospitals.
