Dame Julie Donli, Executive Chairman of Roost Foundation and former Director-General of NAPTIP, condemned the assault of a 10-year-old boy in Anambra State, describing it as cruel, inhuman, and unacceptable. She urged authorities to ensure justice for the victim and strengthen protection for vulnerable children. The boy was allegedly assaulted by his guardians in Awada, Obosi, in Idemili North Local Government Area. The Anambra State Government confirmed the child is receiving treatment and protection under its care. Mrs. Esther Onyekesi, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, disclosed this during a briefing to journalists in Awka on Monday. She also said the offenders must face the law for the assault. The Anambra State Police Command arrested three suspects in connection with the assault. SP Tochukwu Ikenga is the spokesperson for the command. According to blueprint.ng, the three arrested suspects include Chukwudi Chukwuyere (40), his wife Chisom Chukwuyere (30), and a 16-year-old boy. According to papers.com.ng, a viral video showed the boy with injuries on his body, and residents of Awada Obosi stormed the suspects' home and scolded them for allegedly assaulting the boy.
