About 400,000 displaced Lebanese have returned to southern Lebanon, a figure confirmed by several news outlets. The International Organization for Migration reported that 646,107 internally displaced persons have begun returning, and Al Arabiya noted that roughly 40 percent of displaced Lebanese have returned to their towns and villages.

Al Arabiya also reported that the number of people staying in collective shelters fell to about 13,000 from 37,000, and the number of shelters dropped from 692 to 479.

Lebanese authorities confirmed that 150,000 people have been displaced by the conflict. In contrast, other sources reported higher numbers: France 24 said more than one million people have been displaced by Israeli airstrikes and evacuation orders; the Middle East Eye cited Lebanese authorities as saying Israeli attacks have killed around 4,300 people and displaced over one million, particularly from southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs; Al Monitor noted that since March around one million people have been forced to flee their homes in Lebanon; and Doctors Without Borders reported that more than 800,000 people have been forced to flee their homes and towns due to continuous Israeli bombings and blanket evacuation orders.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees reported that 117.8 million people worldwide were forcibly displaced by the end of 2025, according to Al Jazeera.
