An Ebola treatment centre in Rwampara, Ituri province, was set on fire by a group of young men after authorities refused to release the body of a man believed to have died from Ebola. An on-the-ground Associated Press reporter saw people break into the center and torch items inside. Alexis Burata, a local student, witnessed the attack and described it to the Associated Press. Police intervened to try to calm the situation.

Health workers in a village in eastern DR Congo were threatened and forced to leave after arriving to bury a person who had died from Ebola. Front-line health workers in DR Congo have been attacked multiple times by angry residents. Conflict involving armed rebels has hindered response efforts, preventing health workers from reaching some communities.

More than 150 Ebola patients have escaped from treatment and isolation facilities since late May. Symptoms including headaches, fever, and vomiting were observed among the deceased and living in Kigonze camp, which has more than 15,000 residents. A camp spokesperson said the death rate since May was unprecedented and that people didn't just die like this before. Eastern DR Congo has over five million displaced people.
