One of the most shocking politically inclined cases in Telangana in recent years is that of Bandi Bhageerath. A POCSO case was filed against him for committing a crime against an underage girl and he had been in jail for the last month or so.
According to the latest developments, Malkajgiri POCSO Court, Hyderabad has granted interim bail for a period of seven days to Bandi Bhagirath in the POCSO case registered by Pet Bashir Bagh Police Station.

The interim bail has been granted by the court is solely to enable the youngster to appear for his final examinations as it deals with his academic qualifications. The relief is temporary in nature and will be applicable for a period of 5 days and subject to the conditions imposed by the Court.

A special POCSO court in Malkajgiri, on Saturday, June 20, granted interim bail to Union minister of state (Home Affairs) Bandi Sanjay’s son Bandi Bhageerath for seven days. The bail comes over a month after the Petbasheerabad police station booked Bhageerath under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually harassing a 17-year-old girl.
The bail was granted until June 26 to permit Bhageerath to appear for his engineering exams. The Cyberabad police had arrested Bhageerath on May 26.
Bhageerath wasbookedon May 8. He was charged for assault or criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, sexual harassment, as well as POCSO Act sections which pertain to sexual harassment.
In her complaint, the girl’s mother alleged that a man named Sangappa set up a meeting with Union Minister Bandi Sanjay on April 23 where they faced intimidation.

HYDERABAD: Bandi Sai Bhageerath, son of Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has approached the Telangana High Court seeking regular bail in a POCSO case.
The criminal petition is scheduled to come up for hearing before Justice K Sujana on Wednesday. Since the matter is being taken up for the first time, it is expected that the court may seek instructions from the prosecution and adjourn the hearing.
According to the bail plea, the petitioner has been in judicial custody for the past 49 days. In his bail application, Bhageerath claimed innocence and alleged that the case was registered against him due to political vendetta.
The petitioner stated that although his initial period of judicial remand ended on May 30, 2026, he still remains in custody. He further submitted that his release on bail would not prejudice the case.
He assured the court that he would neither interfere with the investigation nor tamper with evidence or influence witnesses if released on bail. On these grounds, the petitioner has sought enlargement on regular bail pending trial.
