The Federal Government, through the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has filed its proof of evidence, list of exhibits and witnesses ahead of the trial of senior lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The case, marked FCT/HC/CR/010/26, is being prosecuted on behalf of the Attorney-General of the Federation by the ICPC’s High Profile Prosecution Department, headed by Dr. Osuobeni Ekoi Akponimisingha.
The charges stem from a petition linked to a judgment delivered by the United Kingdom First-Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber, Land Registration) in Case No. REF/2023/0155, concerning a disputed property located at 79 Randall Avenue, London NW2 7SX.
Following the tribunal’s ruling on September 11, 2025, the ICPC commenced an investigation into allegations surrounding the ownership of the London property and documents allegedly used by Ozekhome to support his claim. The commission submitted its proof of evidence to the court on January 16, 2026.

The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has taken over the criminal case instituted against senior lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), by the
Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The takeover stalled Ozekhome’s planned arraignment before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on a three-count charge in which he is accused, among other offences, of forgery.
At the proceedings, the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), announced that he was representing the AGF and formally informed the court of the decision to assume control of the prosecution.
Oyedepo said the AGF was acting under the powers conferred by Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution.
Counsel for the ICPC, Osuebeni Akpomisingha, did not oppose the takeover. Similarly, former Attorney-General of the Federation, Kanu Agabi (SAN), who led a defence team comprising 15 Senior Advocates of Nigeria, did not object.
Following an unopposed application for adjournment by Oyedepo, Justice Peter Kekemeke…

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Anti-Corruption Committee has thrown its weight behind the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), following his announcement of a probe into the controversial property dispute in Britain involving human rights lawyer, Chief Mike Agbedor Abu Ozekhome (SAN).
The dispute, which came before Judge Ewan Paton of the UK First-Tier Tribunal Property Chamber (Case No: REF/2023/0155), pits one Tali Shani (Applicant) against Ozekhome (Respondent) over ownership of a property located at 79 Randall Avenue, London NW2 7SX.
According to a statement issued by Prof. Babafemi Badejo on behalf of the NBA Anti-Corruption Committee, the matter raises “several improprieties” that demand thorough investigation, particularly regarding the authenticity of the widely circulated judgment and the role played by some Nigerian lawyers mentioned in the proceedings.
