The Kano State Police Command has constituted a Special Investigation Panel (SIP) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a 13-year-old student of St. Louis Secondary School, Kano, following allegations of conflicting accounts over the cause of her death.
The deceased, Maimuna Sani Salisu, a JSS 2 boarding student, reportedly died on June 13, 2026, after she was taken from the school to a hospital in Kano.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the command received a formal petition from Nakudu Law Partners, solicitors to the deceased’s mother, Mrs. Nusaiba Rabiu Dan Sheriff, requesting a thorough investigation into the incident.

The Kogi State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged killing of a primary school teacher who was reportedly assaulted after disciplining a pupil in Olamaboro Local Government Area of the state.
The command said the case of culpable homicide was reported at the Olamaboro Divisional Headquarters on June 25, 2026.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Oyiza Salisu Afusat.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that on June 18, 2026, one Abdullahi Ishaka, accompanied by two women, allegedly stormed Brains Minds Nursery and Primary School, Ugbamaka, where they assaulted a staff member, Maryam Usman, 30, for disciplining a pupil.

Police are investigating the d£ath of Maimuna Salisu, a 13-year-old junior secondary school boarding student of St. Louis Secondary School, Kano.
This followed a petition dated 17 June, submitted to the police by Nakudu Law Partners, solicitors to the deceased's mother, Nusaiba Dan-Sheriff, on behalf of the family.
The family is alleging foul play and pointing to conflicting accounts of how the teenager d!ed.
According to the petition, school authorities contacted Maimuna's parents on 13 June at around 7:20 p.m., informing them that she had fallen ill and had been taken to the International Clinic in Kano.
The deceased's elder sister arrived at the hospital at about 8:19 p.m., only to be told by the attending doctor that Maimuna had already d!ed.
Her remains were buried on 14 June, in keeping with Islamic rites.

THE Police command in Kogi has launched an investigation into the death of a nursery and primary school teacher in Ugbamaka.
The deceased, identified as Maryam Usman, 30, reportedly died after an alleged assault linked to a disciplinary action.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Afusat Saliu, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Lokoja.
She said the incident was reported at the Olamaboro Divisional Headquarters on June 25.
According to her, the teacher was allegedly attacked for disciplining a pupil at Brains Minds Nursery and Primary School.
Saliu said preliminary investigations revealed that Abdullahi Ishaka and two women allegedly stormed the school.
“The trio allegedly assaulted Maryam Usman over her decision to discipline a pupil,” she said.
She added that the victim sustained serious injuries during the reported attack.
The police spokesperson said Usman was initially treated at a hospital in Ugbamaka.

The Kano State Police Command has launched a special investigation into the death of a JSS 2 boarding student of St. Louis Secondary School, Kano.
