Saji had been under treatment at Medical College Hospital since January 8, after her husband, Sony, and their daughter rushed her there, claiming she had fallen from a staircase and suffered a head injury.
However, her condition worsened, and after nearly a month on a ventilator, she passed away on February 9.
Following Saji’s funeral, an argument between Sony and his daughter led to a startling revelation — the daughter approached Cherthala police, alleging that her father had beaten her mother and smashed her head against a wall.
She claimed to have witnessed the assault firsthand but withheld the truth earlier in a desperate attempt to save her mother’s life.
In response to her complaint, the police took Sony into custody for questioning. Sony, a trader running a utensils shop in Alappuzha, is now under investigation.

A six-year-old girl was allegedly killed after spilling ice cream inside a luxury car, according to Bengaluru police, who say a month’s long investigation uncovered a homicide that was initially presented as a medical emergency.
The case, which began with the child’s death at a villa in Bengaluru’s Seegehalli area on March 25, has now resulted in the arrest of her mother, Priyanka P, and her live-in partner, Mohan J Mahaningappa. Police allege the pair attempted to conceal the circumstances of the death before forensic evidence and witness statements pointed investigators in a different direction.
Kadugodi police arrested Priyanka on Thursday in Hassan district. Mohan, a real estate businessman, had already been taken into custody. Both have been booked in connection with the murder.
According to investigators, the events leading to the child’s death unfolded during a car journey on the night of March 24. Police allege Mohan became enraged after the girl spilled ice cream inside his vehicle.
“During questioning, the accused revealed that Mohan became extremely angry after the child spilled ice cream inside his …

Nearly three months after six-year-old P Vennela was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Bengaluru, Kadugodi police say they have made a breakthrough in the case after the prime accused allegedly confessed to fatally assaulting the child during a car ride on March 24. G N Mohan, the live-in partner of Vennela's mother Priyanka P, reportedly told investigators that he struck the girl in the abdomen and covered her mouth to stop her from crying after she spilled ice cream inside the vehicle. Police say the combination of internal injuries and smothering led to the child's death.
The shocking confession has transformed what was initially believed to be a natural death into a homicide investigation involving allegations of violence, deception and a possible cover-up. While Mohan has been arrested and remains in police custody, Priyanka, a lawyer by profession and Vennela's mother, was earl…

Bengaluru girl's death: Post-mortem report flagged suffocation, stomach ...
The autopsy report of the six-year-old girl, who was allegedly killed by her mother and her live-in partner in March, has revealed that the child was possibly suffocated and kicked in her stomach, which led to her death.
Vennella P was reported dead on March 25, a day after her birthday, and the Kadugodi police booked her mother, Priyanka P, and her alleged boyfriend, G M Mohan, on murder charges only on June 4, months after the post-mortem report was released.
Priyankawas arrested on June 11, and Mohan on June 6.
ABengalurupolice officer said the post-mortem report shows that Vennela’s death was caused by “asphyxia due to obliterated windpipe and blunt force trauma to the abdomen”. “The report also highlighted a few more important things, including bloodstained fluid oozing out from both nostrils and mouth, and the peritoneal cavity contained 400 ml of blood and blood clots,” said a police officer.
The officer added they are waiting for the viscera report.
Speaking to the media Monday, the girl’s father, Praveen Basappa, said the truth about his daughter’s death came out after Priyanka’s brother rais…

Police have arrested a woman accused of brutally murdering a five-year-old girl in Jaipur. The victim’s father claimed that when he asked the accused at the police station why she had killed his daughter, she coldly replied: “I wanted to see your wife’s tears. Now my heart is at peace. I had been looking for an opportunity to kill your daughter for the last 3-4 months.”
The child’s body was found wrapped in a blanket inside a bed box at the neighbour’s house on Saturday.
The SHO said the suspect was taken into custody and questioned. During interrogation, the woman allegedly confessed to killing the child due to personal enmity. She was formally arrested on Sunday evening.
Police are now investigating the root cause of the dispute and whether anyone else was involved in the crime. Officials said the full motive behind the murder will be revealed after the investigation.
