What is happening on the Crimean Peninsula?
On June 21, the separatist authorities on the peninsula
suspended the sale of fuel to private individuals
, which will be available only to government agencies. A couple of days later, on June 26, the Moscow-installed government declared
an emergency situation in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol
. According to the local governor, Sergey Aksyonov, the emergency situation
would allow for the rapid resolution of tasks related to ensuring the stable functioning of key sectors.
The rationale behind this decision lies in the
increasing offensive conducted by Ukraine
. The attacks targeted logistics chains, primarily road and rail networks, as well as ports connecting the Crimean Peninsula to the territory of the Russian Federation. Other objectives were oil facilities such as fuel storage facilities and tanker trucks.
There have also been attacks on
critical infrastructure
, including the power grid, which led to a blackout, for example in Sevastopol, Yevpatoria, and other parts of Crimea.
Besides, in the past few weeks alone, Ukraine has attacked long…

Crimean authorities appointed by Moscow have declared a state of emergency on the peninsula, which has been hit in recent weeks by a series of Ukrainian raids targeting military, energy, and logistics infrastructure. The decision was announced by Sergei Aksyonov, head of the region annexed by Russia in 2014, who explained that the measure was adopted "primarily to resolve economic issues," according to the Tass news agency. The measure comes at a time of intense pressure on the peninsula, where Kiev's attacks have exacerbated difficulties in transportation, energy supplies, and fuel distribution.

Ukraine's attacks are driving Russian tourists, residents of occupied Crimea, Russian military personnel, security service officers, and occupation officials to leave the occupied peninsula massively, according to the
Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts note that the outflow of this population from occupied Crimea could have short-term demographic consequences that may intensify over the long term if Ukraine's strike campaign continues.
ISW experts also point out that on June 26, Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed a decree extending the existing ban on Russian oil companies exporting oil and petroleum products at prices that comply with the G7 and EU price caps until December 31, 2027.
Putin introduced the ban in December 2022, and his decision to extend it amid persistent fuel s…

Russia declares regional state of emergency in occupied Crimea ...
Russian-installed authorities have declared a regional state of emergency in occupied Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, citing the need to simplify financial and administrative procedures following recent Ukrainian attacks.
The announcement was made by Russia-appointed head of occupied Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, who said the emergency regime came into effect at 1:00 p.m. on June 26.
Aksyonov claimed that the measure is intended to streamline financial, credit and contractual procedures, as well as facilitate compensation for damage.
The decision follows a series of Ukrainian strikes on the occupied peninsula. In recent days, Crimea and Sevastopol have experienced power outages, while an energy crisis that began in late May has continued to disrupt daily life. Authorities have restricted fuel sales and suspended the admission of children to summer camps for the remainder of the season, although the tourist season has not been formally canceled.
Traffic also built up at the approaches to the Crimean Bridge on Thursday morning. Telegram channel “Crimean Bridge: оперативная информация” announced that around 1,000 ve…

Kremlin-backed authorities in annexed Crimea declared a state of emergency on Friday afternoon following days of intense Ukrainian attacks that have knocked out power in parts of the peninsula and compounded ongoing challenges for residents, including fuel shortages and restrictions on public transit.
“This state of emergency will remain in effect until the situation improves,” Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev
said
in a Telegram video address announcing a citywide state of emergency.
Sergei Aksyonov, the Russian-appointed governor of Crimea,
posted
his own video declaring a regionwide state of emergency, emphasizing the economic rationale behind the move.
“This approach should simplify and streamline the process of property damage claims,” Aksyonov said.
Razvozhayev said the state of emergency will allow local business owners to invoke force majeure clauses and enable residents to seek financial compensation for electrical equipment damaged as a result of rolling blackouts.

Russian-installed authorities in Crimea announced a regional state of emergency on June 26 as Ukraine ramped up its long-range drone strike campaign on its occupied peninsula.
"The decision was made primarily to resolve issues of an economic nature," the Russian proxy leader in Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, said in his June 26 Telegram statement.
"The legal regime of the state of emergency makes it possible to resolve issues of stable functioning of all spheres on which people's livelihoods depend as quickly as possible."
The measure comes a few days after
