Bengaluru:The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls commenced across Karnataka on Tuesday, with more than 59,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) launching a month-long door-to-door verification exercise aimed at ensuring the state’s electoral rolls remain accurate, complete and up to date.
Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbu Kumar personally filled out his Enumeration Form in Bengaluru and urged all eligible voters to complete the process. He said the door-to-door campaign had begun across the state and appealed to citizens to cooperate with election officials.
Karnataka is among 16 states and three union territories where the Election Commission of India (ECI) is conducting the Special Intensive Revision, with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date.

New Delhi:The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially launched the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The exercise aims to ensure that every eligible citizen is included in the voter list while removing ineligible entries, making the electoral rolls more accurate ahead of future elections. The ECI has also released the complete schedule and process for the revision. Door-to-door verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will begin on June 30 and continue until July 29.
The Election Commission said the Special Intensive Revision is being conducted with one clear objective: “No eligible voter should be left out and no ineligible voter should be included.” The exercise is designed to update the electoral rolls by verifying existing voter records, correcting inaccuracies and ensuring that only genuine and eligible voters remain on the list.

According to the Election Commission (EC), the exercise aims to prepare a clean and flawless electoral roll for the upcoming elections to ensure undeserving voters do not find a place in it.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Delhi's electoral rolls begins on Tuesday, with more than 13,000 booth-level officers (BLOs) set to carry out a door-to-door verification of voters across the national capital.

BENGALURU: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka, has begun the background work for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), mapping 4.08 crore of the total 5.57 crore voters, which constitutes 73.2% of the total electorate.
According to data from the CEO, the mapping was most extensive in Tumakuru (92.05%), followed by Koppal (91.32%) and Udupi (90.12%). The lowest was in the BBMP South constituency (34.22%), followed by the BBMP Central constituency (34.79%).
“We are ready to start the SIR process as soon as the Election Commission of India directs us. The exercise in Karnataka is likely to start from April and work in the background is going on,” sources in the election commission told The New Indian Express.
At the same time, the State Election Commission (SEC) is working on finalising the electoral rolls for elections to the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). Special Intensive Revision

) of the electoral rolls in West Bengal will commence on Saturday, with 3,234 centres set up across the state, a senior official said.
Around 32 lakh "unmapped" voters, those who are unable to establish linkage with the 2002 electoral roll, will be called for hearings in the first phase, he said.
Voters will be allowed to submit any of 12 recognised documents, including Aadhaar, as proof of identity and address, the official at the office of the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said on Friday.
However, the commission has clarified that the Aadhaar card will not be accepted as a standalone document.
"Electoral lists prepared during the recent SIR exercise in Bihar will also be considered valid documents. However, submission of fake or forged documents will be treated as a punishable offence," the official warned.

Talking to media persons in Ranchi, Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar said BLOs will distribute enumeration forms to voters and carry out verifications from June 30 to July 29, after which the draft voter list will be published on August 5.
The final publication of the voter list is scheduled for October 7, 2026. Notably, the SIR is to be completed within 100 days of the issuance of the notification in Jharkhand.

TIRUPATI: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has undertaken the Pre-Intensive Revision process in Tirupati as part of preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls aimed at comprehensive verification of voters.
As part of the exercise, officials are verifying family details of voters who were 40 years old in 2002 to track continuity and changes in the electorate.
According to officials, Tirupati had about 2.80 lakh voters in 2002, which has increased to around 3.50 lakh, reflecting population growth and migration over the years.
Under the SIR process, authorities will publish a Draft Electoral Roll that will include all electors whose Enumeration Forms have been received. According to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur, the enumeration exercise was carried out between May 30 and June 28. Of the 20,93,076 potential electors, 19,34,399 submitted their forms, recording a 92.42 per cent response rate.
The revision process also identified 43,000 deceased electors (2.06 per cent), 1,08,283 electors who had shifted residence, were absent or fell under other categories (5.17 per cent), and 7,394 electors (0.35 per cent) with multiple registrations. The BJP has appointed booth level agents-2 (BLAs-2) for over 12,600 polling booths, with Delhi BJP leader Sanket Gupta in charge of the SIR process for the party. New Delhi:Amid controversy of deleted names during Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and alleged denial of passport, ration cards etc, the month-long exercise for the roll revision in Delhi, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Karnataka, Maharashtra begins on Tuesday. During this period the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house-to-house verification of voters, add new names and delete those who have moved out of the state or have died. The exercise will also see rationalisation of polling stations. The draft list will be published on August 5 and the final list will be published on October 7.
Ahead of the SIR, the electoral officials of these held states and the Union Territory of Delhi held meetings with Booth Level Agents of political parties, and mapped existing voters with their enrolment in the previous SIR lists. For Delhi, Karnataka and Maharashtra the reference point is the 2002 SIR list, while for Jharkhand it is 2003, and Meghalaya it is 2005. The state’s revision drive will officially begin on May 20, 2026, with house-to-house verification scheduled from May 30 to June 28.
The ECI has announced the third phase of SIR to be conducted across 16 states and three Union Territories, including the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
According to an official press release from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), the revision process in Manipur will commence on May 20, with July 1, 2026, designated as the qualifying date.
To ensure accurate data, approximately 2,996 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house-to-house verification and enumeration across the state from May 30 to June 28.
Preliminary preparations, including official training and printing of enumeration documents, will take place from May 20 to May 29, while the rationalisation of polling stations is slated for completion by June 28.
The draft electoral roll will be published on July 5, after which citizens can submit claims and objections until August 4.

BENGALURU: The stage is set for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka that will commence on June 20 (Saturday). The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka, will start printing enumeration forms from Saturday, and it will take nine days to reach the Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who will start visiting the houses of voters from June 30 with the forms.
On May 14 this year, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced phase three of the SIR exercise in 20 states and Union Territories from June 20. It may be recalled that the upcoming exercise is the ninth such revision in Karnataka, with the last one conducted in 2002, when there were around 3 crore voters in the state.
CEO Karnataka V Anbukkumar said that printing of over 11 crore enumeration forms will start from June 20. There are 5,55,74,064 voters in Karnataka. Each eligible voter will be given two custom-made partially pre-printed forms. The voters will have to fill both the forms— one must be handed over to the BLOs. The second, attested by the BLO, will be retained by the voter.

New Delhi, Feb 28 (PTI) The Delhi Congress on Saturday said it has intensified its organisational preparations ahead of the upcoming special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, having appointed booth level agents in 10,138 booths across Delhi, an official statement said.
Addressing a meeting of Lok Sabha, district and assembly observers, and BLA-1 representatives, Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav said the initiative is part of the Congress’ Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, aimed at strengthening the party structure at the booth level.
“As a result of the combined efforts of our block presidents, assembly observers, and BLA-1 members, Delhi Congress has appointed BLA-2 in 10,138 booths. The process for the remaining 3,010 booths is in full swing and will be completed soon after Holi,” Yadav said.

(ECI) on Sunday published the draft electoral roll for Manipur following the completion of the Enumeration Phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026, during which over 19.34 lakh enumeration forms were collected from eligible electors across the state.
According to a press note issued by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur, the enumeration phase was conducted between May 30 and June 28.
All claims and objections will be disposed of by September 2, while the final electoral roll will be published on September 6.

On Saturday, January 24, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said the SIR in the remaining states will be rolled out soon as he described “pure” electoral rolls as the bedrock of democracy.
Documents needed during SIR in Telangana, other states
During the enumeration phase, voters need not give any documents. However, during the notice phase, they are required to submit documents if they remain unmapped or ‘logical discrepancies’ surface.
In the enumeration form, electors can either give details of themselves or their relatives from the previous SIR. Giving either detail will help in linking or mapping. Such electors will not be required to submit any documents except enumeration forms.

With the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls beginning on Tuesday, Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ashok Kumar on Monday said the office will chalk out a plan with the Election Commission of India (ECI) to include eligible voters whose houses have been demolished recently.
Addressing a press conference at his office in Kashmere Gate, he acknowledged that the issue has emerged ahead of the exercise.
Kumar said the matter of residents displaced due to recent demolition drives has been flagged and a suitable mechanism will be worked out in consultation with the poll panel to ensure that eligible electors are not deprived of their voting rights.
“This is an issue that has come up. We will discuss it with the Election Commission of India and chalk out a strategy,” he said.

Booth-level election officers (BLOs) on Tuesday distributed 168,291 enumeration forms and digitised 7,605 forms as of the evening on the first day of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll exercise, according to officials with the chief electoral office (CEO).
