Imo State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim, Chinonaobi Uchegbulam, from the forest.
The command said it was part of ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements. The state commissioner of police, , CP Audu Garba Bosso, led operatives of the command and local vigilantes, on an intelligence-led forest clearance operation across the Nekede, Ihiagwa and Agbala axis of Owerri West local government area.
In a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, he said, “The operation was carried out on the directive of the inspector-general of police (IGP), conveyed through the deputy inspector-general of police supervising the South East geopolitical zone, DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to strengthen internal security, dismantle criminal hideouts and deny criminal elements safe havens.
“During the operation, police operatives rescued an injured kidnapped victim, Chinonaobi Uchegbulam, ‘ m ‘ of Ubaha Orodo, from a forest hideout. “The victim was immediately evacuated to a medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment and responding positively,” he said.

TheImo StatePolice Command has rescued a kidnapped victim during an intelligence-led forest clearance operation in Owerri West Local Government Area, as part of renewed efforts to dismantle criminal camps and restore security across the state.
The operation, conducted on Friday, June 27, was led by the Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, in collaboration with local vigilantes. It covered the Nekede, Ihiagwa, and Agbala forest axis, which security agencies have identified as a suspected hideout for criminal elements.
According to the Police Command, the operation followed a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, conveyed through the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the South-East, DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to strengthen internal security by flushing out criminal gangs and denying them safe havens.

The Imo State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim, Chinonaobi Uchegbulam, during an intelligence-led operation targeting criminal hideouts in forests across Owerri West Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, who hails from Ubaha Orodo in Owerri West LGA, was rescued on Saturday from a forest hideout during a coordinated clearance operation carried out across the Nekede, Ihiagwa and Agbala axis.

Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Launch Operation to Free Others in Oyo
The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of one of four victims abducted near the Cocoa Research Institute along the Ijebu-Ode Road, with the victim’s vehicle also successfully recovered.
The Command disclosed that the Commissioner of Police has ordered the deployment of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, in collaboration with other tactical teams, to support the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Idi-Ayunre Division. The teams are currently carrying out an intensive bush-combing operation to secure the safe release of the remaining victims.
Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that the rescued victim is now in safe custody and undergoing debriefing, while efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue others still held by the abductors.
In a related development, the Command also confirmed the re-arrest of a suspected kidnapper who had previously escaped from police custody, an incident that had sparked concern and protests within the affected community.
