Soaring RAM and memory prices have wreaked havoc across the smartphone industry.Phones are getting expensiveacross the board, with Nothing co-founder Carl Pei noting thatRAM now costs more than the SoC and display combined(these were historically the most expensive components). The ripple effect of this exorbitant price increase is that brands are now reassessing their launch plans, with the next CMF Phone being the latest casualty.
Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis took toXto be transparent about the company’s launch plans on the next CMF Phone. The company was working on a successor to theCMF Phone 2 Pro, but with steep memory prices, the company can no longer build a phone that makes sense for the CMF brand. Consequently, there won’t be a new CMF Phone this year.
There are still other products in this year’s CMF brand lineup, including new product categories, but nothing more in the main smartphone lineup.
In thepost comments, Akis added further context, mentioning that if the CMF Phone 2 Pro launched now with the e…

Nothing Cancels CMF Phone 3 Pro Due To Rising RAM Costs
Smartphone manufacturerNothinghas announced the cancellation of its upcomingCMF Phone 3 Pro. The decision stems from significant cost pressures surrounding RAM components, which have made the production of the mid-range smartphone financially unviable.Akis Evangelidis, co-founder of Nothing, confirmed that the company will not release the new CMF Phone in 2026, despite its original development roadmap.
The CMF Phone 3 Pro was actively being developed as the direct successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro. Industry estimates indicate that if the device were released now with its intended specifications, it would cost approximately Rs. 30,000 (~$318). In comparison, its predecessor launched in April 2025 at an original price of Rs. 18,999 (~$201). This change represents a projected price increase of 58% to 85% for the consumer.
A lot of you have been asking when the next CMF phone is coming and as always we'd rather be transparent.
CMF Phone 2 Pro was a product we were incredibly proud of. It even won Budget Phone of the Year from MKBHD and the response from all of you made it even more special.

A Nothing exec has announced that there won't be a new CMF phone this year
They say the ongoing RAM crisis is to blame
There will, however, be other CMF products and other Nothing phones
The
CMF Phone 2 Pro
from Nothing combined distinctive looks with a bargain price when it launched last year, but if you’ve been hoping for a CMF Phone 3 Pro this year, you’re out of luck, as the company has just confirmed that no new models are coming.
Posting on X, Nothing’s co-founder
Akis Evangelidis claimed
that while the company was previously working on a successor, “with memory prices where they are right now, we can't build a phone that feels like a genuine step forward at a price that makes sense for CMF.”
As a result, there won’t be a new CMF phone this year — though he added that other new CMF products are still planned, including “entirely new categories,” an…

Nothing effectively kills CMF Phone due to RAM costs - 9to5Google
Nothing’s CMF Phone series has released two models thus far and, at least for now, won’t be getting a third, as the rising cost of materials has essentially left the series dead in the water.
The CMF Phone series has been building budget-focused smartphones that, as we’ve noted in our hands-on coverage, have beenverygood values.
But,as has been clear, the rising costs of components, especially RAM, is impacting budget devices more than anything else. And, as a result, the CMF Phone is dead, at least for this year.
Nothing co-founder and the man behind the CMF Phone series, Akis Evangelidis, confirmed on Twitter/Xthat the next CMF Phone release has been canceled, explaining in part:
We were working on a successor but with memory prices where they are right now, we can’t build a phone that feels like a genuine step forward at a price that makes sense for CMF. As a result, we’ve decided not to launch a new CMF phone this year.
In a later reply, headdsthat launching a device with the exact same specs asCMF Phone 2 Prowould cost around 50% more in today’s market. The CMF Phone 2 Pro hasbeen out of stockfor quite some…
