India Reviews Preparedness for Floods and Heatwaves Ahead of ...
India’s Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review national preparedness for potential floods and heatwaves ahead of the monsoon season. Taking strong exception to the traffic chaos witnessed across Hyderabad during recent rains, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday warned officials of strict action if similar disruptions recur during the monsoon season.
Chairing a high-level review meeting on monsoon preparedness with officials from multiple departments, the Chief Minister directed authorities to remain on high alert and ensure that citizens do not face inconvenience during heavy rainfall. He made it clear that negligence at any level would not be tolerated.
Revanth Reddy particularly referred to the severe traffic congestion reported in several parts of Hyderabad, including Cyberabad, following the rains on June 9. Expressing displeasure over the situation, he observed that officials had failed to act despite prior warnings from the Meteorological Department.

Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Saturday chaired a review meeting at the Vidhana Soudha with Deputy Commissioners, Chief Executive Officers and Superintendents of Police from districts across the state to assess key administrative and governance-related issues.
The meeting focused on maintaining law and order, strengthening preparedness ahead of the monsoon season and accelerating the implementation of administrative initiatives across districts.

With rains around the corner, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr M Ramesh chaired a monsoon preparedness meeting and reviewed the action plan to minimise traffic disruptions and waterlogging.
The commissionerate recently received 150 personnel from the Greyhounds and OCTOPUS units for traffic management duties across various police stations. Strict action would be taken against wrong-side driving and vehicles obstructing free left turns and U-turns at junctions.
Commissioner Ramesh asked officials for a detailed report on waterlogging-prone and flood-prone locations and find a suitable solution. Agencies undertaking road-cutting works should coordinate with the traffic department and work on traffic diversion plans before beginning the works, he said
He also enquired about the status of ongoing works at Wipro Junction, DLF Junction, Shapur Nagar, Kukatpally Y-Junction, Miyapur and Nizampet.
All departments should work together to ensure safe and uninterrupted travel for the public during the monsoons, he said.

Upon his arrival at Coimbatore Airport, Sengottaiyan informed reporters that review meetings have been held under the Chief Minister’s leadership to evaluate preparedness and coordinate departmental responses.

Representatives of IT companies were encouraged to strengthen employee bus transportation systems, promote greater use of Metro and other public transport services, and reduce dependence on individual car travel wherever feasible, a press release said.

In view of the upcoming monsoon, Police and Municipal Corporation jointly conducted an extensive field inspection across areas in Cyberabad on Wednesday.

They identified flood-prone locations and implemented precautionary measures to prevent rainwater accumulation on roads, ensuring smooth traffic flow.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr M Ramesh and Cyberabad Municipal Commissioner Srujana, along with other officials, conducted an extensive field inspection across vulnerable areas in the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits.
The inspection was aimed at identifying flood-prone locations and implementing precautionary measures to prevent rainwater accumulation on roads, ensuring smooth traffic flow and minimizing inconvenience to the public during heavy rains.
According to CMC, they identified 202 water logging points in Cyberabad, including 83 major, 95 medium and 24 minor locations. Officials said nearly 98 per cent of desilting works had been completed. They also identified 161 dilapidated buildings within CMC limits.
