A fragile truce between Iran and the United States appeared increasingly shaky early on June 28 as both sides accused one another of violating an interim agreement meant to halt months of fighting, amid renewed missile, drone, and air strikes across the Persian Gulf region.
Iran launched missiles and drones targeting US military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain shortly after US President Donald Trump warned Washington could escalate its military campaign if Tehran failed to abide by the cease-fire.
There may come a point when we are no longer able to be reasonable, Trump said in a social media post, adding that the United States could militarily complete the job it began earlier this year.
Within hours, Kuwaiti and Bahraini authorities reported that their air defenses were responding to incoming projectiles.

Sanctions, strikes and mistrust keep the region trapped between diplomacy and escalation
Dubai: Three months after the war between the United States and Iranbegan with massive strikeson Iranian targets, the conflict appears to be entering a new and uncertain phase — one defined less by large-scale bombardment and more by brinkmanship, maritime pressure, sanctions and fragile diplomacy.
The latest signs of instability emerged this week after explosions were reported near Bandar Abbas and the Strait of Hormuz following Iranian claimsinvolving a US tanker and IRGC naval activity. Around the same time, Kuwait said its air defences intercepted hostile missiles and drones as warning sirens sounded across the country, underlining how regional tensions continue to spill across the Gulf despite repeated ceasefire efforts.
The developments come nearly three months after the conflict erupted on February 28,when the US and Israel launched coordinated strikeson Iranian military and nuclear-linked sites, triggering the most serious direct confrontation between Washington and Tehran in decades.

Conflict in West Asia escalates as US and Israel strike Iran; Tehran targets US military bases across Gulf region
Conflict in West Asia has intensified as Iran and the joint forces of Israel and America have launched a new wave of missile and drone attacks. Iran and Iranian-backed militias continue to strike US assets across the Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain, after the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and top Iranian officials. On the other hand, Israel and the United States pounded targets in Iran. Britain, France and Germany have said they are ready to work with the US to counter Iran’s attacks, and a group of Gulf countries said it reserved the right to respond to Iranian strikes.
Oman’s Maritime Security Centre has reported that an oil tanker was attacked by an explosive-laden boat while sailing 52 nautical miles off the coast of Muscat Governorate. At least one crew member was killed after the attack resulted in a fire and an explosion in the engine room.

Iran War Ceasefire Tested As Cargo Ship Catches Fire and Kuwait Reports Drone Attack
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The shaky ceasefire in the Iran war was tested again on Sunday when drones of unclear origin set fire to a cargo ship off Qatar’s coast and entered Kuwaiti airspace before dawn, authorities said. Qatar and Kuwait said that no casualties were reported from either attack. The events marked the latest threats to a month-old ceasefire, which the Trump administration says remains in effect. The pause in fighting has faced difficulties, with Iran restricting traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway key to the global flow of oil, and the U.S. imposing a blockade of Iranian ports. Washington has been awaiting Iran’s response to a new proposal for a deal to end the war, reopen the strait to shipping and roll back Iran’s nuclear program. U.S. President Donald Trump has reiterated threats to resume full-scale bombing, if Iran doesn’t accept an agreement to reopen the strait and roll back its nuclear program. Iran has mostly blocked the waterway since joint strikes …

The latest exchange of fire came as the Trump administration pressed Iran to make a deal to end the war that has strained the global economy and threatened a hunger crisis in some of the world’s most vulnerable countries. The AP’s Sam Mednick explains from Tel Aviv, Israel.
Bahrain’s government said Saturday that Iran fired ballistic missiles and drones towards it and Kuwait. It come as the U.S. military said it shot down Iranian ballistic missiles and drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf Arab allies on Friday, while striking some of the Islamic Republic’s coastal surveillance radar sites in response, an exchange of fire that further frayed a shaky ceasefire with Tehran.

The escalation in violence deepens doubts about the prospects for a deal to end the war that started on Feb. 28 with joint US-Israeli strikes against Iran. Tehran responded by firing on Gulf neighbors that host US bases and all but choked off the Strait of Hormuz, a vital conduit for oil and gas.

Kuwait airport hit by Iranian drones as US-Iran talks stall
The fragile ceasefire in the US Iran war was tested overnight as Tehran launched a series of drone and missile attacks on Kuwait, hitting and severely damaging its international airport. Kuwaiti authorities have insisted that missiles are being intercepted while the US has launched what it calls self-defensive strikes on the Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz in response. It comes as negotiations between Washington and Tehran appear to be stalling.

Iran struck Kuwait International Airport early Wednesday, killing one person and injuring others,Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The attack, which Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corpsreportedlydenied responsibility for, is the latest blow to an already weakened ceasefire agreement that has been repeatedly undermined by military action in recent days.
While the Trump administration says the ceasefire remains in place, attacks have escalated as the war proceeds into its fourth month.
PresidentDonald Trumpdid not answer directly when asked at the White House on Wednesday afternoon if the ceasefire was still on in light of the Kuwait attack.
"You know, there's a reason for everything," Trump said. "And we hit them pretty hard the night before, and actually last night."
He added, "A ceasefire there is much different than a ceasefire in other parts of the world."
Both sides in the conflict have been trading fire.

Iran Strikes Kuwait's Main Airport and Kills 1 as Ceasefire Is Tested Again
Kuwait briefly shut its main airport Wednesday after Iranian drones heavily damaged a passenger terminal, killed one person and wounded dozens — the latest in back-and-forth attacks by Iran and the US that test a fragile ceasefire.
Talks have dragged on for weeks as mediators seek a more enduring truce in the US-Israeli war with Iran. They are increasingly strained by Israel’s broadening war with the Iran-backed Hezbollah group in Lebanon.
A regional official said Iran wanted a separate ceasefire in Lebanon enforced before returning to talks. US President Donald Trump said negotiations continue.
The fighting in Lebanon has also exposed a rift between Israel and the US, which is pushing its ally for restraint. In a measure of the friction, Trump acknowledged that he'd called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “crazy” during a phone call earlier this week. Nonetheless, both men say their rapport is solid.
Iran maintains its hold on the Strait of Hormuz — a crucial waterway for the world’s oil and natural gas and related products like fertilizer — and the US continues its blockade of Iranian ports. Glo…

DUBAI, U.A.E.: A tanker was hit by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz on June 27, Britain's maritime security agency said. This happened after the United States and Iran carried out strikes, marking their biggest escalation since agreeing to a temporary peace deal.
Both sides blamed each other for breaking the agreement made two weeks ago to end the four-month conflict. The U.S. said it struck Iranian targets overnight, while Iran said it attacked targets linked to U.S. forces on June 27 in response.
The tanker attack came after a cargo ship was also hit on June 25, which increased tensions. Iran is trying again to assert control over the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route that had just begun to reopen after months of disruption.
Britain's UKMTO said the tanker's bridge was damaged, but all crew members were safe. A naval coalition group also raised its security threat level due to recent incidents.
Iran has not directly confirmed the ship attacks. However, its state TV said the Revolutionary Guards fired "warning shots" at ships using routes not approved by Iran. This has led more ships to seek permission from Iran before passin…

Iran targets Bahrain and Kuwait after new US strikes
Iran launched a salvo of missiles at US allies Bahrain and Kuwait on Saturday after fresh American strikes, drawing a furious response from the Gulf monarchies and further straining a fragile truce.
Weeks of indirect talks marked by tit-for-tat threats and sporadic exchanges of fire have failed to secure a deal to end the Middle East war or reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a chokepoint for Gulf oil and gas shipments.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said late Friday that its forces shot down four Iranian attack drones launched toward the strait, then struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards said early Saturday they had responded by targeting "enemy bases in the area" with missiles.
CENTCOM said Iran had launched seven ballistic missiles towards Bahrain and Kuwait, but that six had been intercepted and one had fallen short.
Bahrain, which hosts the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet, denounced the latest attacks, the second against both nations in a matter of days, as "blatant aggression", while Kuwait said they "represent a dangerous escalation".
In Bahrain's capital Manama, an AFP journalist he…

US launches new airstrikes on Iran; Ghalibaf says, 'Strike, and you ...
Hours after President of the United States Donald Trump announced the ceasefire in the Middle East conflict was over, the US launched fresh airstrikes against Iran on Thursday, early in the morning.
Explosions were reported in cities along the Strait of Hormuz, including Bushehr, Chabahar, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Jask, and Abu Musa Island
At least one person was killed in strikes in Iranshahr. Widespread power outages were reported in Chabahar after two docks and a maritime traffic control tower were hit there.
In retaliation, Tehran hit Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar, prompting missile alerts in these Gulf states.
The Qatari Interior Ministry issued an alert stating the “security threat level is high” and urging citizens to stay at home and in safe places.
Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior said warning sirens have sounded, urging citizens to stay calm and head to the nearest safe place.
Kuwait too sounded its missile alert sirens after Bahrain and Qatar, warning of an Iranian attack.
No immediate damage was reported in the three Gulf Arab countries as Kuwait’s military said it was intercepting incoming drones an…

On Saturday, Iran launched drones at Bahrain, which is home to a U.S. Navy base. The Islamic republic was also likely responsible for an attack on a commercial ship.
Hours later, the U.S. continued the tit-for-tat exchanges, as Central Command announced strikes on Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air-defense sites, drone storage facilities, and minelayer capabilities.
“After yesterday’s U.S. strikes in response to the Iranian attack on M/V Ever Lovely, Iran was given a chance to honor the ceasefire agreement but elected not to when its forces launched a one-way attack drone that hit M/T Kiku this morning at 4:30 a.m. ET,” it said in a

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they had carried out attacks against a US base in Jordan and 21 other targets in the Gulf Wednesday in retaliation for American strikes around the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian media reported.
The clashes mark one of the biggest exchanges in hostilities since the two countries agreed to a ceasefire in April.
The Iranian strikes, which included attacks in Kuwait and Bahrain, came after the US military said on X it had targeted Iranian air defense, ground control stations and surveillance radar sites near the strait in response to what US President Donald Trump said was the downing of a US Apache helicopter Tuesday.
"I believe the response should be very strong, very powerful, and that's what this one is," Trump told ABC News Tuesday.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Bahrain and Kuwait in response to US air strikes that hit the Islamic Republic and threatened a “complete halt” to negotiations to end the war if Washington continues attacks.
Efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz without Iran’s direct oversight sparked the crossfire now gripping the region.
A multinational maritime body overseen by the US Navy said on Saturday that it would expand a route near Oman to allow for both inbound and outbound traffic, setting up a new flashpoint with Tehran.
Iran insists that after the war it alone must govern the strait, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf that once carried a fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas.
The global community has long considered the strait an international pass…

US strikes Iran after Hormuz attacks, Tehran threatens response
US forces launched strikes on Iran on Tuesday after three commercial vessels were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, the US military said, sharply escalating a confrontation that has already shaken efforts to end the Middle East war.
Maritime traffic had tentatively resumed after Washington and Tehran signed the memorandum last month, but Iran has insisted there will be no return to pre-war arrangements, under which vessels could pass freely through the strait.

When and how could Gulf states retaliate against Iranian strikes?
When and how could Gulf states retaliate against Iranian strikes?
Iran's strikes are pushing Gulf states toward a breaking point, forcing a choice between restraint and retaliation.
Iran's Gulf neighbors have been repeatedly targeted and hit by Iranian drones and missiles as part of the Islamic Republic'sretaliatory strikesagainst the U.S. and Israel's bombardment since late February.
The latest and perhaps most significant escalation in attacks on Iran's neighbors came this week when Tehran launchedretaliatory missile attacks on Qatar's Ras Laffanliquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal following Israel's attack on Iran's South Pars gas field.
Gulf states — from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait — have responded to Iran's repeated attacks on their energy infrastructure by saying "a price must be paid" and that the attacks "cannot go unanswered," but, so far, they have not retaliated.
That diplomatic and defensive position can't and won't last forever, analysts say, noting that the Gulf states are now likely weighing up when, where and how they might shift from a neutral stance to an offensive one.

DUBAI —The US military launched new strikes against Iran early Wednesday, hours after three merchant ships were struck in the Strait of Hormuz, in the latest exchange of fire to threaten the interim deal to end the fighting between the two countries.
The renewed attacks were sure to add to the difficulty of the negotiations aimed at fully reopening the strait, rolling back Tehran’s disputed nuclear program and reaching a permanent end to the war launched Feb. 28.
In a statement posted to social media, US Central Command said American forces launched the strikes “to impose heavy costs for targeting and attacking commercial shipping crewed by innocent civilians in an international waterway.”

Footage from Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation showed the moment of impact from several angles. In the videos, what appears to be a triangle-shaped, delta-wing drone slams directly into the terminal. Iran long has used such drones in combat, particularly its Shahed drones, which are also used by Russia in its war on Ukraine.
The U.S. military said Tuesday that Iran fired missiles at Kuwait and Bahrain that failed or were shot down, and that the U.S. launched strikes on an Iranian facility in response.

[Editor's note: This article has been updated after the latest round of fire between Israel and Iran on June 8.]
A delicate ceasefire between US and Iran that has been in place since April 8 was tested again on June 3 after both Kuwait and Bahrain reported fresh missile and drone attacks from Iran. Thestrikes on Kuwait, in particular, mark the most serious escalation yet on a Gulf country since the ceasefire went into effect. One Indian was killed and at least 63 people injured, the foreign ministry said, as the strikes drew fresh condemnation from neighbouring Gulf states, including the UAE.
Since the beginning of the war — which started on February 28 when US and Israel launched "preemptive strikes" on Iran — several Gulf countries have endured attacks targeting civilian areas, nuclear plants, and oil and petroleum facilities. These had largely ceased after US President Trump declared a ceasefire aimed at allowing both countries to negotiate a deal. The talks, in progress for several weeks, however, have yet to yield a proposal agreeable to both sides.

(TNND) —Iran launched drone and missile attacks on Sunday targeting Bahrain and Kuwait.
This latest attack comes as a response to newU.S. airstrikesagainst the Islamic Republic, and a threatened “complete halt” in negotiations to end the war if the U.S. continues attacking.
The exchange of strikes is a result of recent efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz without Iran’s direct oversight and further imperiling talks for a lasting ceasefire. A multinational maritime body overseen by the U.S. Navy said on Saturday that it would expand a route near Oman for inbound and outbound Strait traffic, creating a new point of contention with Tehran.
The Strait of Hormuz has long been considered an international passageway by the global community, despite its location in Iran and Oman’s territorial waters. But in recent days, Iran has attacked vessels going through a route on the Omani side in an evacuation effort backed by a United Nations agency.
Iran has maintained that it must be the sole governor of the strait and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated that claim on Sunday.
For the past few weeks, the …

Iran attacks Kuwait, US strikes near Hormuz as diplomacy stalls
Gulf hostilities flared again on Wednesday as Iranian attacks on Kuwait damaged its airport and injured dozens while the US military carried out strikes near the Strait of Hormuz, with diplomacy to halt the war showing little sign of progress. The attacks are the latest to test a shaky ceasefire, sending oil prices up nearly 2 percent, as the strait remains largely closed more than three months after the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran. For all the latest headlines follow our Google News channel online or via the app.Flights at Kuwait International Airport were suspended after an Iranian drone and missile attack damaged airport facilities and diplomatic missions, killing one person and injuring more than 60 others, Kuwaiti authorities and state media said.Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways later resumed flights after taking safety measures, the civil aviation authority said.
The latest US strikes lasted around four hours before the US Central Command posted just before 9 p.m. that they had ended…

The global community has long considered the strait an international passageway despite its sitting in Iran and Oman’s territorial waters. In recent days, Tehran has twice attacked vessels going through a route on the Omani side of the strait backed by a United Nations agency.

Iran, US continue escalating attacks, recriminations over peace deal
Iran and the US continued their attacks in the Gulf as each accused the other of violating an interim deal signed less than two weeks ago to end their four-month-old war.Shortly after President Donald Trump warned the US might “militarily complete the job,” Iran early on Sunday launched missiles and drones on US military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain, continuing a series of escalating attacks. For all the latest headlines, follow our Google News channel online or via the app.The US military said earlier it had struck Iran again, hours after a tanker was hit in the Strait of Hormuz, the world’s most important energy shipping route, which Iran had largely cut off for most of the conflict. The 14-point US-Iran interim agreement was meant to halt the fighting, which the US and Israel started on February 28, and reopen the strait to shipping while talks began on more deep-seated issues, such as Iran’s nuclear program.Violence, recriminations follow peace deal, US-Iran talks One round of

Military says it intercepted 13 hostile ballistic missiles and 17 hostile drones
An Iranian drone strike on a passenger terminal at Kuwait's international airport killed an Indian national and wounded 63 people on Wednesday, as conflict escalated between Tehran and US forces in the Gulf.
The attacks constitute one of the more severe tests yet of a fragile April 8 ceasefire that paused more than a month of war sparked by the US-Israeli bombing of Iran and has largely held despite sporadic strikes.
Kuwait's military dubbed the strike on the airport an act of "criminal Iranian aggression", while the foreign ministry condemned it as having "once again targeted vital and civilian infrastructure".

Iran Launches New Attacks On Kuwait, Bahrain And Jordan After US Strikes As Tensions Escalate
The conflict in the Middle East widened sharply on Wednesday as Iran launched fresh attacks across the region after the United States carried out airstrikes against Iranian targets, blaming Tehran for the crash of an American Apache attack helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz.
Kuwait's military said its air defence systems were engaging what it described as "hostile aerial targets", while Bahrain and Kuwait activated emergency alerts and responded with defensive measures. Jordan also reported intercepting incoming Iranian missiles aimed at an area housing a military base used by American forces.
The latest exchange of attacks marks a significant escalation in a conflict that has already rattled global markets, driven up energy prices and raised concerns over the stability of one of the world's most strategically important regions.
Iran launched attacks targeting sites in Bahrain and Kuwait, prompting both countries to activate air defence systems and issue alerts to residents.
In Jordan, military officials said air defence units intercepted five missiles launched by Iran. According to…

Iran says Patriot missile interceptor hit Kuwait airport, US denies it
Iran on Wednesday said that the strikes on Kuwait's airport that caused extensive damage were the result of a US Patriot missile interceptor hit, a claim that US Central Command immediately denied.
Iran's Tasnim news agency cited the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as saying that they did not fire at Kuwait airport.
The US said that claim was false and that Iran targeted the airport in a "deliberate, calculated, and unjustified attack".
Earlier on Wednesday, Kuwait denied that its airspace was used to launch strikes on Iran after its airport was struck by a heavy barrage of missiles and drones by Iran on Tuesday night, which killed at least one person and injured 63 people.
Video footage from the airport showed extensive damage, with fires raging in terminal one, the roof collapsed, and billowing clouds of smoke.

The widening conflict in West Asia may have crossed another troubling threshold after Kuwait alleged that Iranian strikes damaged critical civilian aviation infrastructure at Kuwait International Airport. According to Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), an attack targeting airport radar facilities caused injuries and significant material damage affecting systems linked to air traffic management. In a formal communication addressed to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Kuwaiti authorities stated that "the airport's radar was targeted." The incident also represents one of the clearest public acknowledgements by a Gulf state that infrastructure supporting civilian air travel has been directly affected by the ongoing military escalation in the region. after U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Tehran would “pay the price” for stalled negotiations.
The exchange came shortly after the U.S. launched a second round of airstrikes overnight Thursday. Bahrain is the headquarters of the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet.
