Israeli Forces Kill at Least 13 People in Southern Syria Raid ...
Israeli forces raided a Syrian village and opened fire when they were confronted by residents on Friday, killing at least 13 people, Syrian officials said, in the deadliest Israeli attack since its troops seized a swath of southern Syria a year ago.
Syria’s Foreign Ministry called the attack a “horrific massacre” and said women and children were among those killed.
The Syrian state news agency SANA said Israeli forces entered the village of Beit Jin aiming to seize local men and opened heavy fire after being confronted by residents. Dozens of families fled the area.
Israel said Friday it conducted an operation to apprehend suspects from the Jamaa Islamiya group in Beit Jin who were planning IED and rocket attacks into Israel. It said other militants opened fire at the troops, injuring six, and that troops returned fire, including bringing in air support. It said the operation had concluded, all of the suspects were apprehended and a number of militants were killed.
A local official in the village, Walid Okasha, told The Associated Press that those killed were civilians. Among the dead were a man, his wife, his two c…

An Israeli military operation on a Syrian village Friday morning turned into the deadliest attack by a foreign nation on Syria since the ouster of former dictator Bashar al-Assad last year.
At least 13 people were killed and 24 were injured after Israeli forces infiltrated the Beit Jinn village in southern Syria to capture two members of Jama’a Islamiya, a Lebanese Islamist militant group. The Israeli military said in a statement that the two members of the militant group were planning future attacks on Israel.
The incident turned deadly after clashes broke out, the Israeli military said in a statement. Six Israeli troops were wounded, including three seriously injured, while the two militants were captured and taken back to Israel, the statement added.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released bodycam footage of the nighttime raid, including what they called “face-to-face” combat during the …

province of Daraa, local authorities said.
Provincial authorities, in a statement shared on Telegram, reported a provisional toll of five people killed in the bombardment of the town of Kwayya, west of Daraa, adding that residents had fled Israeli tank shelling.
Officials also said that Israeli troops were seen taking up positions in the area.
The statement by the Syrians came after Israel announced air strikes on Syrian air bases near the city of Palmyra in the Homs province.
Following the reports of bombings in Daraa, the Israeli army said that it carried out air strikes on Syria in response to incoming fire from across the demarcation line.

AnIsraeli forceadvanced on Monday into southern Syria'sQuneitraprovince, in the latest violation of the Arab country's sovereignty.
Syria Alikhbaria TV said that Israeli forces moved into the village of Al-Samadaniyah al-Sharqiya in the Quneitra countryside, searching several houses in the area.
The raid came despite an agreement reached by Syria and Israel on Jan. 6 to establish a US-supervised communication mechanism aimed at coordinating information sharing, reducing military escalation, engaging diplomatically and exploring trade opportunities.
Israeli forces, however, have continued to target Syrian territory at an almost daily pace, carrying out ground incursions, particularly in the Quneitra and Daraa countryside in southern Syria, detaining civilians, setting up checkpoints to search and question passersby, and damaging agricultural land.
Israel has occupied most of Syria's Golan Heights since 1967 and, following the ouster of the Bashar al-Assad regime on Dec. 8, 2024, announced the collapse of the 1974 disengagement agreement and moved to occupy the Syrian buffer zone.

ABDIN, Syria (AP) — As Israeli troops and vehicles entered the town of Abdin in southern Syria, residents blocked the roads with rocks, and some young men and boys threw stones to push back the military patrol.
Tensions in this part of the country created by a buffer zone occupied by Israeli forces have flared into violence in recent days, leaving residents anxious that more escalation is coming. Residents of Abdin, located near a U.N.-patrolled buffer zone now controlled by Israeli troops, tried to resist against a military incursion Sunday.
Residents said Israeli troops fired warnings shots at walls and between the angry protesters, before firing artillery rounds at the village. No one was harmed in the exchange, but most residents fled, and most were still too afraid to return on Monday. Many fear that there will now be more intense incursions and raids following the skirmish.
“They come into the village regularly, every few days,” said resident Mohammad al-Hassan, standing not far from a group of children looking at an exploded shell. “They come in armored 4×4 vehicles, they roam…

The Israeli army launched a military incursion on Sunday in Syria’s southern village of Saida in the Quneitra countryside, Syrian media reported.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), 16 Israeli armored vehicles advanced from Tel Abu Ghithar toward Saida, and conducted raids and searches of civilian homes before withdrawing shortly afterwards.
The state-run Alikhbaria channel said Israeli forces searched homes and attempted to force residents to answer surveys in several neighborhoods for allegedly distributing aid before withdrawing from the area.
The outlet said residents refused to answer the surveys and rejected the Israeli military presence in their village.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army on the report.

Israeli forces staged new incursions into Quneitra and Daraa in southern Syria on Sunday, in the latest violation of the Arab country’s sovereignty.
The SANA news agency said two Israeli military vehicles advanced on a road between the village of Saida al-Golan and the al-Basali farm in the southern Quneitra countryside, where they set up a temporary checkpoint and searched passersby before withdrawing.
In Daraa, Israeli forces set up a temporary military checkpoint at the eastern entrance to the village of Maariya in the Yarmouk Basin area, searching passersby and vehicles before leaving the site.
Maariya Mayor Muwaffaq Mahmoud told SANA that about 150 Israeli soldiers aboard four military vehicles arrived in the area on Sunday morning and set up a checkpoint at the eastern entrance to the village.
No arrests were reported in the raid.
Israeli forces have continued near-daily strikes and ground incursions in Syrian territory, particularly in the southern provinces of Quneitra and Daraa since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024.
