Israel Army Says Killed Seven Hezbollah Operatives in South Lebanon
The Israeli military said it killed seven Hezbollah militants who had operated near its so-called "security zone" in southern Lebanon on Friday.
The latest attack comes amid a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah in an offshoot of the Middle East war that the United States and Iran are negotiating to bring to a definitive end.
While the fighting has diminished significantly in recent days, it has not stopped completely, AFP reported.
The military said in a statement it had "struck and eliminated seven Hezbollah terrorists who transferred weapons near the Security Zone in southern Lebanon," adding that it would "continue to operate to remove threats."
Hezbollah drew Lebanon into the regional war on March 2 with rocket fire at Israel to avenge the killing of Iran's supreme leader in US-Israeli strikes.
Israel responded with airstrikes and an invasion that Lebanon says have killed more than 4,200 people.
Under US pressure, Lebanese officials began direct talks in April with Israel in Washington, and a truce was announced on April 17 but failed to stop the fighting.

Israeli Ground Incursions in South Lebanon Shift Hezbollah's Combat ...
Hezbollah has scaled back attacks deep inside Israel as it focuses on confronting expanding Israeli ground incursions into southern Lebanon, while Israel has widened its list of targets across Lebanese territory.
By Saturday afternoon, Hezbollah had issued 22 statements claiming attacks against Israeli forces. Most operations targeted Israeli military positions along the border, air-defense and surveillance systems, and northern Israeli settlements.
The group also said it struck Israeli soldiers and vehicles inside Lebanese territory, including near the municipality of Khiam, the town of Maroun al-Ras, and newly established Israeli positions at Blat and Nimr al-Jamal opposite the border town of Alma al-Shaab. Hezbollah also reported attacks around the Khiam detention center, west of Blida and near Khazzan Hill in Adaisseh.
Efforts to repel Israeli ground advances now appear to top Hezbollah’s battlefield priorities after the Israeli army launched incursions along at least four axes, according to sources in southern Lebanon. They said Hezbollah had mobilized forces since the start of the war in preparation for …

The Lebanese group Hezbollah said today that its fighters repelled Israeli ground forces that were trying to penetrate the border town of Al-Labouneh in southern Lebanon, Anadolu reports.
The group said Israeli forces attempted to enter the city from behind the positions of UN peacekeeping forces (UNIFIL) in the area.
Hezbollah said its fighters engaged Israeli forces with "appropriate weapons," causing casualties among them and forcing the infiltrating troops to retreat.
Israel has carried out massive airstrikes across Lebanon against what it calls Hezbollah targets since September 23, killing more than 1.250 people, wounding 3.618 others and displacing over 1,2 million people.
The Israeli air campaign in Lebanon was an escalation in the year-long cross-border war between Israel and Hezbollah since the start of Tel Aviv's brutal offensive in the Gaza Strip that has killed nearly 42.000 people, mostly women and children, since a Hamas attack last October.
At least 2.083 people have been killed and 9.869 others injured in Israeli attacks in Lebanon since then, according to Lebanese …
