President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke to journalists and answered questions on the plane after visiting Lefkosa (Nicosia), the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), to commemorate the Cyprus Peace Operation's 50th anniversary.
President Erdoğan's visit to the TRNC to commemorate the 50th anniversary of July 20 Peace and Freedom Day has concluded.
Stating that the unshakable ties between Türkiye and TRNC were once again emphasised on this historic day, President Erdoğan reiterated their support for Turkish Cypriots as the motherland and guarantor state, just as they did 50 years ago.
President Erdoğan said, "I see the picture of unity we have given as the ruling party and the opposition as valuable. It has been recognised that the Cyprus issue is not only ours but the cause of 85 million people. This must be understood once and for all. No one has the power to portray the Turkish Cypriots, the island's constituent inhabitants, as a minority. During our visit today, we emphasised this point explicitly."
Remarking that it is becoming clearer day by day that the two-state model is the only way to re…

TRNC Prime Minister Backs Erdoğan's Two-State Vision for Cyprus
Lefkosa, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ünal Üstel on Sunday voiced strong support for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s recent remarks, reiterating that a fair, lasting, and realistic settlement on the island of Cyprus can only be achieved on the basis of two sovereign states.
In a written statement responding to comments by Greek Cypriot Administration leader Nikos Christodoulides, Üstel said references to United Nations resolutions as the sole determinant of a settlement model reflect an insistence on a federal solution and a rejection of any alternative approach.
He emphasised that such an approach dismisses a two-sovereign-state solution and seeks to impose a unilateral model on the Turkish Cypriot people. Reaffirming that “our position is clear, explicit, and indisputable,” Üstel stressed that this stance is neither temporary nor tactical.
The TRNC prime minister said the position reflects the historical and legitimate will shaped by the Turkish Cypriot people’s long struggle for existence and self-determination. “President Erdoğan’s clarity on this iss…

TRNC minister: Turkish guarantorship key to Cyprus stability
TRNC Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu on Wednesday declared that Türkiye’s effective guarantorship and military presence on the island constitute an absolute red line for Turkish Cypriots and serve as the primary guarantee of the Turkish-Greek balance in the Eastern Mediterranean. Speaking in a written statement issued through the Turkish Cypriot News Agency, Ertuğruloğlu emphasized that more than half a century of failed negotiations has proven that the Greek Cypriot side will not abandon its ambition to rule the island alone.
Two-state solution sole viable option
“The only reality on the island is the existence of two separate, sovereign and equal states living side by side,” Ertuğruloğlu stated. He added that seeking solutions on federation grounds amounts to a futile effort that not only wastes time but also attempts to weaken the basis of the national Cyprus policy. The minister noted that those who aspire to govern the TRNC must fully grasp this reality and demonstrate sincerity toward the Turkish Cypriot people.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan shared his views on current issues with journalists aboard his return flight after visiting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on Saturday.
President Erdogan completed his visit to the TRNC following an invitation by President Ersin Tatar to attend the 51st anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.
During the visit, Erdogan took part in celebrations of the July 20 Peace and Freedom Day in Lefkosa, sharing in the joy and enthusiasm of the Turkish Cypriot community.
The president emphasized that the Cyprus Peace Operation, conducted 51 years ago in response to international treaties, ended the violence against Turkish Cypriots and thwarted the "enosis" union with Greece. He noted that, since 1963, the operation brought peace to the island and asserted that no blood has been shed there for half a century, a peace maintained with Türkiye’s steadfast support.
In a meeting with Tatar, Erdogan reiterated Türkiye's continued backing for Turkish Cyprus and emphasized support for a two-state solution on the island, affirming the reality of two distinct peoples and states. …

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Tufan Erhurman

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertugruloglu said Türkiye's effective guarantorship and military presence on the island are a "red line" for the Turkish Cypriot people, calling them the strongest guarantee of regional stability and of the Turkish-Greek balance in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Ertugruloglu made the remarks in a written statement, according to the Turkish Cypriot News Agency.
He said more than half a century of Cyprus negotiations had shown that the Greek Cypriot side would not change its mentality and would undermine any possible partnership arrangement.
"Therefore, our stance is clear against approaches that try to make the Turkish Cypriot people pay the price of the lack of a solution through unjust isolations; the only reality on the island is the existence of two separate, sovereign and equal states living side by side," he said.
Ertugruloglu said Türkiye's effective and actual guarantorship, as well as the presence of Turkish troops on the island, remained essential for the security of Turkish Cypriots.
He said Türkiye's presence is also the stronges…
