TEHRAN, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Iran's official news agency IRNA on Wednesday evening published the full text of a recently finalized memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Tehran and Washington on ending the war.
According to the released text, by signing the MoU, Iran and the United States, along with their allies, will jointly agree to end the war and military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, immediately and permanently, and undertake from now on not to initiate any war or military operation against each other, refrain from the threat or use of force against each other and guarantee Lebanon's territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
It said, "The final agreement will confirm the permanent end of the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon."
Iran and the United States commit to respecting each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity and refraining from interfering in each other's internal affairs, IRNA added, quoting the MoU.
It said Iran and the United States also commit to holding negotiations and reaching a final agreement within a maximum period of 60 days, extendable by mutual consent.

From uranium stockpiles to Hormuz control, the toughest issues remain far from settled
Dubai: The United States and Iran appear closer than they have been in months to apossible agreement that could halt the warin the Middle East and ease tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. But despite optimistic statements from President Donald Trump and signals from Tehran, major questions remain unresolved — and both sides are describing the proposed deal in strikingly different ways.
According to a detailed report byThe New York Times, American and Iranian officials arepresenting conflicting accountsof what has actually been agreed upon, particularly on Iran’s nuclear programme, the future of the Strait of Hormuz, and sanctions relief.
At the heart of the negotiations are five explosive issues that coulddetermine whether the talks leadto a lasting breakthrough — or collapse into another cycle of confrontation.
The biggest sticking point remains Iran’s nuclear programme and, specifically, what happens to its stockpile of highly enriched uranium.
Trump has repeatedly insisted that Iran must surrender uranium enrich…

Help us understand President Trump's shift on his stance for Iran's ballistic missile program. Initially it was *** key objective to dismantle it. Yesterday he said it would only be fair if they had some, if the countries around Iran also had some. So when and why did that change? And will the final agreement have any restrictions on these missiles? So we destroyed *** substantial number of their ballistic missiles and their, excuse me, ballistic missile launchers themselves. It's not just the bullets, but it's the actual gun, and that's what we were extremely effective at in destroying during the last 3 months of the campaign. All the …

US-Iran Peace MoU
The United States and Iran have signed a 14-point memorandum of understanding (MoU) that could mark a major step towards ending military tensions and restarting economic cooperation between the two countries. Signed virtually by US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, the framework agreement lays out plans for sanctions relief, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, releasing
frozen Iranian assets
and launching negotiations on Tehran's nuclear programme.
However, the agreement is not yet final. Both sides have 60 days to negotiate a comprehensive deal, and officials acknowledge that significant hurdles remain. According to Reuters, a US official said upcoming talks would focus on the sequence of commitments outlined in the preliminary accord.

The details have been reported by several media outlets, but Bloomberg obtained a full draft of the memorandum which appears to usher in sweeping gains for Iran without addressing key US war objectives.
For example, the memorandum cited by

does not address the fate of Iran’s enriched uranium, long considered a sticking point in negotiations.
Nor does it mention Iran’s conventional military forces, like its ballistic missile arsenal, which Trump entered the war calling a threat to the US.
The memorandum also says that the ceasefire includes “all fronts, including in Lebanon”, reaffirming a key Iranian demand that is sure to anger US ally Israel.

US-Iran peace deal: How soon can we see the official text?
The Trump administration is hailing a potential peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran, but the official text of the deal has yet to be publicly released.
The public release of this text could happen any day this week, but President Donald Trump says it likely won't happen until it's officially signed in Switzerland this Friday. I'd like to get *** formal setting first before we do that, but I have no problem with that. It's *** great document. Here's what it says. Iran will never have *** nuclear weapon. That's what it says. It won't have one to buy, to develop. They will not have *** nuclear weapon. President Trump insisting the deal is locked in. Vice President JD Vance also says it's already been digitally signed. In the deal itself, senior administration officials say Iran has agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz toll-free for now, restoring the Strait to. It was before the war, but it's unclear what h…

Insights from

The signing of the US-Iran MoU is a significant, if overdue, step toward ending a war that should never have been fought. The conflict erupted on February 28 following US and Israeli strikes on Iran amid ongoing nuclear negotiations, an act of strategic recklessness that triggered a global energy crisis and brought the region to the brink of catastrophe. That it took over a hundred days of destruction to arrive at a negotiating table does not make th…

WASHINGTON — The interim deal between the United States and Iran is supposed to usher in a two-month period that would address the most divisive issue between the longtime adversaries: Tehran’s nuclear program.
Preventing Iran from attaining a nuclear bomb is a key reason that President Donald Trump said he launched the war alongside Israel in February, but the tentative agreement he has trumpeted leaves little room to negotiate the long-running sticking point. The previous nuclear pact between Iran and world powers, from which Trump pulled the United States in his first term, took many months to negotiate.
Under terms of the initial deal, Iran immediately would take steps to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to global oil shipments and would be allowed to sell its oil without restrictions, U.S. and regional officials say.
The accord, due to be officially signed Friday in Switzerland, also envisions Iran receiving at least $300 billion to rebuild after the war and says the United States would work to end all American and U.N. sanctions imposed on Tehran. That …

THINGS have moved rapidly where the Iran-US memorandum of understanding is concerned. While the physical document was supposed to be signed in Switzerland today, the main stakeholders — including the American and Iranian presidents — have already put their signatures on the digital dotted line, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif adding his as mediator. Now, if all goes as planned, the actual negotiations will kick off in the rarefied environs of Buergenstock, with Washington and Tehran’s representatives getting down to the more difficult task of how to implement the 14-point MoU.

Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf asserted on Wednesday that the Americans were the ones who sought a ceasefire, noting that Iranian strength had prompted European countries to negotiate with Tehran regarding lifting sanctions.
Qalibaf said in an interview with Iranian television: “It was the enemy who was seeking a ceasefire and we did not accept it at the beginning,” noting that “within 24 hours, 3 rounds of negotiations were held on the text and 3 rounds of trilateral negotiations were held in the presence of the mediator.”
He added: “Iran’s strength has prompted three European countries to seek negotiations with Iran in order to lift the sanctions.”
He also pointed out that “any airport in any country from which enemy fighters took off has been targeted,” adding: “When the enemy’s logic is force, he must be disciplined, but when he comes to the negotiating table, he must be spoken to with distrust.”
Regarding the scope of the negotiations, Qalib…

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Senior U.S. officials dictated the memorandum of understanding with Iran to journalists Wednesday after days of secrecy.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to read the the draft, which Iran has not released, ahead of formal signing ceremony set for Friday.
According to the officials, the draft agreement includes a new "minimum" standard for downblending of highly enriched Iranian uranium and has provisions to ensure the "territorial integrity" of Lebanon after Israel's latest attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanese territory.
In return, the U.S. will move to waive, but not eliminate, some wide-ranging sanctions against Iran once the deal is signed.
The U.S. draft of the agreement also secures toll-free passage of the Strait of Hormuz for only 60 days, and it does not preclude fees in future, the officials said.

The interim document that ends months of war will be signed physically on Friday in Geneva, Switzerland. Talks are expected to begin soon after.
Buoyed by positive progress on Iran-US truce, oil prices extended losses on Tuesday, as markets weighed prospects for resumption of supply through the key Strait of Hormuz.
Here are some key questions about the peace deal answered:
The details of the MoU haven't been made public officially, but Vance on said it is "a very general document" with specifics of the deal to be worked out during further negotiations.
“The MOU...is about a page and half so it is a very general document. On a number of issues, we are going to have to figure this stuff out during the technical negotiation phase,” US vice president JD Vance told …

Iran called the deal a triumph over Washington and Israel. of the Strait of Hormuz, according to a copy of the text obtained by Military Times. It also paves the way for sanctions relief and a $300 billion reconstruction incentive for the Islamic Republic – contingent upon a final deal being agreed.
President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance electronically signed the accord Sunday, ahead of a formal ceremony scheduled for Friday
in Switzerland.
Vance is expected to lead the American delegation alongside special envoy Steve Witkoff and the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
The agreement leaves the most difficult points of contention between Washington and Tehran – such as the fate of Iran’s nuclear program – to the next phase of negotiations.
Trump, speaking at the Group of Seven

US, Iran agree on roadmap for final deal despite early tensions
The Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States may strengthen the Revolutionary Guards, weaken Persian Gulf security and deepen China's access to Iranian energy. Above all, however, it leaves Iranians to face the Islamic Republic on their own.
Paragraph 2 of the MOU effectively enshrines the abandonment of the Iranian people by committing both sides to "refrain from interfering in each other's internal affairs."
This clause stands in direct contrast to many of President Trump's previous statements regarding the Iranian people and his repeated condemnations of the regime's brutality.
In 2017, Trump described Iranians as "a proud people" forced to submit to extremist rule. In 2018, he tweeted: "Such respect for the people of Iran as t

Iran would be allowed to start oil exports immediately under an interim deal with the US and gain access to a $300 billion economic development program following negotiations for a permanent peace that's meant to address Tehran’s nuclear activities, according a draft of their agreement.
The two sides plan to formally sign the memorandum of understanding on Friday in Switzerland, formalizing an agreement reached earlier and clearing the way for 60 days of talks to end the war and put strict limits on Iran’s nuclear program.
The US has begun circulating the text of the interim deal with allied nations at the Group of Seven summit in France, a person familiar with the matter said. Neither Washington nor Tehran has yet officially released the document.
Another person familiar with its contents, who asked not to be identified discussing private deliberations, said technical details were still being worked out, suggesting precise language may still change before the signing.

TheMemorandum of Understanding(MOU) signed last week by the Trump administration and Iran is a welcome and necessary step to ending a disastrous war of choice that the US and Israel never should have started. As the first days of the ceasefire – which saw a continuation of fighting in Lebanon and Iran’s partial closure of the Strait of Hormuz – demonstrate, commitment at the highest levels of American and Iranian leadership will be necessary to sustain the tenuous agreement.
The terms of the deal reflect the weakened position of the Trump administration, which urgently needed to relieve the increasing economic and political pressure caused by Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz (SOH). In fact, Iran was able to effectively dictate the terms of the MOU, receiving significant financial benefits up front along with ending the US naval blockade in return for opening the Strait, while deferring the main American demands to a 60-day negotiating period that began over the weekend.
While final judgment should be reserved pending the outcome of these negotiations, the United States has significantly le…

Describing the Iran-US memorandum of understanding as a “full capitulation” to Iran, critics in Congress have said the administration of President Donald Trump has conceded to the Islamic Republic after a costly and pointless war that failed to achieve Washington’s stated objectives.
The 14-point memorandum of understanding, signed remotely by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Trump on Wednesday, calls for a permanent end to hostilities across all fronts, including Lebanon, the phased lifting of US sanctions, the removal of the naval blockade on Iran within 30 days, and the restoration of commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
The draft agreement also includes a US-backed reconstruction and economic development plan for Iran worth at least $300 billion, oil export waivers, the release of Iran’s frozen assets, and a renewed Iranian commitment not to seek nuclear weapons, while further negotiations continue over Tehran’s enriched uranium stockpile.
The agreement has triggered sharp criticism in Washington, where some lawmakers argue that months of milit…

The technical negotiations at the Lake Lucerne Summit in Switzerland, which commenced on 21 June 2026, mark a critical operational step in translating the historic Iran-United States Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) into a permanent security framework. Led by US Vice President JD Vance and Iran’s Chief Negotiator Muhammad Bagher Ghalibaf, these talks aim to establish concrete mechanisms for the 14-point MoU signed on 17 June. The importance of this agreement lies in its potential to defuse an active military conflict that has severely destabilised West Asia and crippled global energy markets. By securing a 60-day timeline to formally settle complex security, economic, and nuclear issues, the MoU provides an unprecedented de-escalation pathway. For global commerce, its significance is underscored by provisions to lift the US naval blockade and reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz chokepoint. Furthermore, it offers Tehran massive economic relief through the potential revocation of multilateral sanctions and the release of $24 billion in frozen…

The Trump administration read the full text of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding to reporters Wednesday, ahead of a signing expected Friday. By now you’ve seen the summary a dozen times: ceasefire extended sixty days, blockade lifted, Strait of Hormuz reopened, sanctions relief on the table, a nuclear framework to be negotiated.
The summary isn’t wrong. It’s just not where the story is.
Read closely, three provisions don’t do what the celebratory coverage assumes — and each one matters more than the headline number attached to it. A nuclear fix that’s designed to be undone. A blockade whose removal may be permanent in a way the text obscures. And a war declared over by two of the three sides actually fighting it.
What’s concrete
. The blockade language is specific and front-loaded: removal begins immediately, full termination within 30 days, naval traffic restored in proportion to pre-war volumes. Strait of Hormuz passage for commercial vessels is sim…

U.S. officials are closing in on an agreement with Iran that could extend the cease-fire, lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and set the table for more substantive talks, according to three U.S. officials with knowledge of the discussions.

The two sides plan to formally sign the memorandum of understanding on Friday in Switzerland, formalizing an agreement reached earlier and clearing the way for 60 days of talks to end the war and put strict limits on …

US President Donald Trump has outlined what he says are the key elements of a new agreement with Iran, claiming it will prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and lead to the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump said the deal was "scheduled to get signed tomorrow (Sunday)".

However, Iranian officials have disputed that timeline. Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, said the memorandum of understanding would not be signed on Sunday, although he did not rule out an agreement being reached in the coming days.
"We will have to wait and see about the exact date of the signing of the memorandum of understanding, although it will not be tomorrow," Baghaei said. WASHINGTON, June 17 (Reuters) - The United States has so far not released the full text of the interim U.S.-Iran agreement to halt the war in Iran and open the Strait of Hormuz.
But a draft copy reviewed by Reuters lays out in 14 points a high-level understanding that defers until a final agreement is signed many of the most difficult issues, such as how to wind down Iran's nuclear program. It paves the way for a broader 60-day negotiation period due to begin in Switzerland on Friday.
The full draft document is published here verbatim:

TEHRAN —
Iran has designated Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf as its signatory to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding scheduled for signing in Geneva on Sunday, June 14, bypassing Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and President Masoud Pezeshkian in favor of a legislative-branch official with no constitutional authority to bind the executive. The U.S. and Iran are expected to officially sign a
memorandum of understanding
on Friday that lays out the terms of an extended 60-day cease-fire that will allow time for further negotiations to take place.
Hours after an outdated version of the 14-point agreement was leaked to some media outlets, a senior U.S. administration official read out the memorandum, which outlines commitments aimed to ensure the full, toll-free reopening of the
Strait of Hormuz
, and the “termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.”
The agreement asserts that Iran can never develop a nuclear weapon—a promise the regime has made in the past. The agreement states that the U.S. and Iran will address Iran’s existing stockpile of enriched material, “with the minimum methodology to be down blending on site” under the supervision of inspectors with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
It also indicates that Tehran may be able to tap into a $300 billion development fund for Iran’s “reconstruction and economic development,” provided it meets commitments laid out in a final deal. The negotiations would als…

There is still some doubt on whether a long-term deal is guaranteed.
Days after it was first announced by President Donald Trump, U.S. officials on Wednesdayfinally detailedwhat is in the memorandum of understanding with Iran.
Under the agreement, the critical Strait of Hormuz will be reopened to commercial traffic, the U.S. will lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports and fighting will stop for 60 days while both sides negotiate the terms of a final deal on nuclear weapons and material.
TheMemorandum of Understanding's (MOU)terms were read aloud by officials in a call with reporters as Trump spoke at the G-7 summit in France. Written text of the MOU has yet to be released, though an official said the language is final and has been signed.A formal signing ceremony is expected later this week.
Still, doubt was cast on whether a long-term deal is guaranteed.
"If they don't honor that, we'll probably go back to bombing them until they honor it," Trump said in France. "You know, it's amazing what bombs can do."
One senior U.S. official described it as a "gentleman's agreement," but questioned"what's a gentleman's ag…

“Let the oil flow,” President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social Sunday as he
announced a deal with Iran to end the war
and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking in France on Monday, he said “the deal’s all signed,” adding that the vital waterway is expected to fully reopen by Friday.
But the agreement has quickly drawn backlash over its lack of detail, reported concessions to Tehran, and the decision to defer key nuclear issues to future talks. While some have welcomed the prospect of easing global energy disruption, critics say the memorandum of understanding (MOU) leaves core questions unresolved.
Under the framework as reported, the U.S. would lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports in exchange for reopening the strait, while more detailed negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program and sanctions relief are expected over the next 60 days. That structure has fueled concern the deal delivers immediate gains to Iran while pos…

UNITED STATES reduced relations IRAN in Tehran, Tehran, Iran

BEIJING, June 17 (Xinhua) -- The United States and Iran have reached a deal to end hostilities, with both sides set to send delegates to Switzerland for a ceremonial signing on Friday.
While the deal has brought hope for peace and relief to financial markets worldwide, its key provisions remain contested. The two sides diverge significantly on how the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened, how sanctions on Iran will be lifted, and how security will be guaranteed.
WILL THERE BE FEES FOR TRANSITING HORMUZ
A 14-point draft memorandum, released by Bloomberg News on Wednesday, covers the Strait of Hormuz reopening, sanctions relief, an economic rehabilitation plan for Iran, and Tehran's pledge to never pursue nuclear weapons.
On the reopening of the crucial waterway for global energy shipments, the two sides have recently offered conflicting accounts, with a key dispute over whether transiting ships will face fees.
Semi-official Fars news agency reported on Monday that Iran will allow ships to pass through the waterway free of charge for 60 days only. Thereafter, Iran intends to levy fees on crossing vessels for security, maritime, environmental and insur…

Help us understand President Trump's shift on his stance for Iran's ballistic missile program. Initially it was *** key objective to dismantle it. MEMORANDUM OF MISUNDERSTANDING
MEMORANDUM OF MISUNDERSTANDING
(For the SoundCloud audio, scroll down)
There is something wonderfully reassuring about the phrase “Memorandum of Understanding.” It sounds sober and civilized. “Memorandum” conveys confidence — it is official, it is serious. And “understanding” — surely that is what we all want: to reach an understanding about how things will unfold going forward.
Of course, no one signs a Memorandum of Understanding while admitting that the understanding may be rather thin. No one says, “We signed this because we can’t agree on anything substantive, and we needed to sign something.” Instead, everyone celebrates the signatures on a document that may carry little weight and almost no practical application.
That is what makes this week’s U.S.–Iran MoU so unsettling. According to the U.S. administration’s MoU cheerleaders, the signed agreement is meant to end the four-month-old conflict, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and create a sixty-day window for broader negotiations that will result in a clear end to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
The Strait is important. It is one of the world’s vital maritime chokepoints, carrying a huge share of global energy supplies. The Irania…

President Trump arrives for a gala dinner at the Versailles Palace in Versailles, France, on Wednesday, where the White House later said he signed the memorandum of understanding with Iran.
NPR has obtained a copy of the framework agreement to end the war with Iran. A source shared the text on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the preliminary deal.
Formally called a "memorandum of understanding," the text was signed Wednesday by President Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, as well as by the prime minister of Pakistan, which mediated between the US. and Iran.
The text is as follows:

Who Wins the New U.S.-Iran Deal in the Long Term?

Executive summary
The emerging memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran appears to trade significant short‑term concessions to Tehran — access to frozen assets, reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and oil sales — in return for a negotiated pause or suspension of Iran’s nuclear activities, the duration of which remains contested; Washington is reportedly pushing for as long as 20 years while Iran has proposed far shorter terms[1][2]. Balancing the economic relief and legitimacy Iran gains against U.S. aims to lock in long, verifiable limits on enrichment and a reduction in regional escalation, the deal in the long term tilts modestly in favor of the United States; on a 0–100 scale (0 = Iran, 100 = U.S.), the balance sits at roughly 65 toward the United States.
1. The negotiating context and why terms matter
Negotiations resumed after an era of breakdown and military strikes, with the U.S. seeking to constrain a nuclear program that has advanced since Washington left the 2015 JCPOA, and Iran pushing for sanctions relief, access to frozen funds and normalization of oil exports; th…

Below is the full text of the U.S.-Iran
memorandum of understanding
, as delivered by a senior administration official in a briefing with reporters.
The big picture:
The MOU declares the war to be over, calls for
Iran
to open the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. to lift its blockade, launches 60 days of nuclear negotiations, waives sanctions to let Iran sell oil during those 60 days and includes massive economic incentives should Iran sign a final nuclear deal.
Because the official read the deal to reporters and the print text has not been released, this transcript may be inexact, for example in terms of punctuation.
1. The United States of America
and the Islamic Republic of Iran and their allies in the current war, by signing this MOU, declare the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon, and undertake from now on not to initiate any war or any military operation against each other, and to refrain from the threat or use of force agains…

The document calls for an immediate ceasefire between the United States, Iran and their allies, including an end to fighting in Lebanon. It also sets a 60-day timeline for negotiating a final accord, with provisions covering sanctions relief, the reopening of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, the release of frozen Iranian assets and the resumption of Iranian oil exports.
The agreement includes a commitment by Iran not to develop or acquire nuclear weapons and establishes a process for resolving the future of its enriched uranium stockpiles under International Atomic …

What to know about the Iran war:
As the U.S.-Iran war hit the three-month mark, the two sides were negotiating through mediators on a memorandum of understanding that would extend their ceasefire by 60 days and begin talks over Iran's nuclear program.
U.S. sources told the White House press pool a tentative agreement has been reached, but it's pending President Trump's approval. Iran also has not yet provided a response to the latest version, a regional official said.
Vice President JD Vance said negotiators are "going back and forth" and making a lot of progress, but it's "still TBD" whether talks will reach a point where Mr. Trump can sign a deal. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also characterized talks as ongoing.
The ceasefire remains fragile: The Pentagon has
hit Iranian targets twice this week
in what it called defensive strikes, leading Iran to accuse the U.S. of violating the truce and announce retaliatory strikes on an American base. CENTCOM
said
Kuwait intercepted an Iranian missile Thursday,…

A senior U.S. official disclosed what the official said was the full text of the deal between the United States and Iran to cease hostilities, open the Strait of Hormuz and start nuclear talks.
The text of the agreement, as read out loud on a conference call with reporters on Wednesday, is below. The official spoke on condition of anonymity under ground rules set by the White House.

The 60-Day Test: What Iran's Agreement with the United States ...
On Wednesday, after weeks of talks mediated primarily by Pakistan, the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran
signed an initial agreement
to end their war. The breakthrough came days after Washington and Tehran electronically signed a 14-point
memorandum of understanding
to halt hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and attempt to resolve, within 60 days, the interlocking questions of Iran’s nuclear program and American sanctions that have long strangled its economy.
In the days since, the reported contents of the agreement have drawn fire from multiple directions simultaneously. In Washington, Iran hawks have
read it
as a lopsided arrangement, more generous to Tehran than even the 2015 nuclear deal. In Israel, the agreement is seen across the political spectrum as a
bad bargain
struck by the U.S. while deliberately keeping the Israeli government outside the room and away from the text.
Inside Iran, skepticism about the agreement runs deeper than the rhetoric of the
Stability Front
, an ultra-hardline faction influential within parts of the state and society, and reflects a broader, pragmatic unease root…

WASHINGTON (AP) —After days of secrecy, senior U.S. officials on Wednesday
dictated the memorandum of understanding with Iran
to journalists. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to read the draft, which Iran has not released, ahead of a formal signing ceremony set for Friday.

The U.S. draft of the agreement includes a new ‘minimum’ standard for the dilution of Iran’s highly enriched uranium and toll-free passage of the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days, though it doesn’t preclude future fees, the officials said. It also features provisions to ensure “territorial integrity” of Lebanon after Israel’s latest attacks there against Hezbollah, according to the officials. In return, the U.S. will move to waive, but not eliminate, some wide-ranging sanctions against Iran once the deal is signed.
U.S. President Donald Trump, meanwhile, is wrapping up his time with world leaders in Évian-les-Bains, France, for the

. His last stop in France is a

LONDON, June 5 (Reuters) - Here are the main issues between the United States and Iran as they seek a deal to end their war, which is now in its fourth month:
HORMUZ AND GULF BLOCKADE
Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz, normally the conduit for around a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments, has caused an unprecedented oil supply shock, driving up fuel, food and fertiliser prices.
Reopening the strait is Washington's top priority and Tehran's main point of leverage, but it could take time.
Many vessels are stuck in the Gulf and Iran says it has laid some sea mines that could be difficult to locate.
The U.S. blockade on Iranian ports is hitting Iran's own exports and state revenue. Lifting this is one of Tehran's main goals.

'I didn't want to see economic catastrophe. If you kept this going, that could have happened,' Trump said
The United States and Iran have signed an initial agreement, aiming at ending months-long conflict in the Middle East and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The signing of the memorandum of understanding came during the G7 summit in France, while Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian later approved the deal in Tehran, as reported by the BBC.
The 14-point MOU between the United States and Iran is a framework agreement designed to de-escalate a three-month conflict. While not a final treaty, it establishes a roadmap for future negotiations and addresses immediate regional stability.
Here are the details of the full document, titled "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran", what has been settled in the framework and what key issues still need to be resolved.

A reported 14-point peace framework between the
United States and Iran
has sparked global attention, raising hopes of an end to one of the most dangerous confrontations in the Middle East in recent years. The reported agreement, first published by Iran's state-affiliated Mehr News agency, emerged after US President Donald Trump and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that a framework had been reached to end the conflict and open the door to broader negotiations.
The reported deal comes after months of military tensions, attacks on energy infrastructure, concerns over Iran's nuclear programme and disruptions to shipping through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. Roughly a fifth of the world's oil supply passes through the narrow waterway, making any disruption a major concern for global energy markets. The conflict had contributed to rising oil prices, fears of a wider regional war and uncertainty acros…

VICE PRESIDENT VANCE:All right.
Good morning, everybody. Nothing to talk about -- slow news day here in
Washington, D.C. So let me just say a couple of things off the bat. First of
all, I think the President's peace plan in Iran is already bearing real fruits
for the American people. Last night, 12.5 million barrels of oil went through
the Strait of Hormuz. That is a high since the beginning of the conflict. Oil
prices are down nearly at their level from the pre-war conflict. Gas prices
dropped below $4 a gallon today for the first time since the conflict, and
importantly, they're going to keep falling further given how low price -- low oil prices are.
On the
military side, the Iranians for the second night in a row did not shoot at any
ships in the Strait of Hormuz, so so far they are honoring their end of the
commitment. And on the blockade, CENTCOM has allowed north of a dozen ships to
go…

US President Donald Trump has personally signed a memorandum of understanding with Tehran, with a photo of the process sent to the Iranian side and the mediators, Axios reported, citing two US officials.
Iran's Foreign Ministry confirmed on Wednesday that the text of the memorandum had been officially finalized and signed by both sides. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the ceasefire and the end of the war in Lebanon were as important for Tehran as the provisions concerning Iran itself.
"For us, the ceasefire and end of the war in Lebanon were as important as Iran," Baghaei said, according to Press TV. "The first clause of the memorandum mentions Lebanon three times, including respect for its territorial integrity and sovereignty."

The memorandum of understanding signed by the president does *** couple of things. BothWashington and Tehranhave remained tight-lipped about the exact wording, and it is not yet clear how closely this draft reflects the final agreement expected to be signed in Switzerland on Friday.
Under the proposed terms, the US would allow Iran to resume exports of oil and petrochemical products. Iran could also gain access to a potential $300 billion development fund, provided it meets conditions linked to its nuclear program in ongoing negotiations.
The draft does not specify the fate ofIran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, leaving one of the most sensitive issues unresolved.

Will Todman: After nearly four months of conflict between the United States and Israel, on one side, and Iran, the United States and Iran announced the agreement of a framework deal to end the war this weekend. We understand that it includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a cessation of hostilities on all fronts. But key questions remain unanswered, including the economic incentives that Iran is likely to receive and, of course, the fate of its nuclear program going forward. So today we are asking, who won and who lost from this deal? What does it mean for states in the region? What does it tell us about the emerging order in the Middle East? And ultimately, after the Iran deal, what comes next?
(Music plays.)
I am so excited to be joined by four of our all-star Middle East Program experts for this quick reaction episode. Of course, we just heard the news last night about the agreement on this deal. So I emailed y…

President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to end a war that has devastated the Middle East since late February.
The White House has confirmed the digital signing, noting that an initial phase of the agreement was signed on Sunday by US Vice President JD Vance and Iran's chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, with President Trump witnessing.
Trump had previously announced that both sides had agreed on the deal on 14 June.
Trump told reporters that he had signed the memorandum at the Palace of Versailles, near Paris, where he was attending the G7 Summit ahead of a dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.
Macron shared a video on social media showing the moment Trump signed the document, in which Trump said: "This was not easy."

This U.S.-Iran MOU will likely be a 'memorandum of misunderstanding'
The long-awaited Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States was electronically signed on June 14, Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.
Two days later, even as the Group of Seven leaders in Evian, France “supported” the MOU, the document had not yet been made public. The full text was finally “orally read” to the media shortly thereafter. As I read it, I felt it was no MOU at all but rather a “memorandum of misunderstanding.”
I have good reason to say so since Axios reported that the CIA Director had told the president that the agency’s intelligence “raised serious doubts about Iran’s willingness to make the nuclear concessions.” If the president was aware of this, then this document must be a “memorandum of deliberate misunderstanding.”
Even before the full text was disclosed, I was skeptical. First, because the MOU is far from a formal final agreement, deferring the details of the nuclear issues. Second, this MOU lacks in substance and is a compromise that allows both sides to declare “victory.” Finally, because it is highly likely that the Israeli Prime Minister was not informed of the MOU in ad…

Here's what the draft memo for a proposed deal with Iran includes - CBS News
A draft proposal for an agreement with
Iran
includes a 60-day ceasefire extension, a commitment to ending all military operations on every front, including Lebanon, and affirmation from Iran that it won't develop nuclear weapons and will dispose of its enriched uranium stockpile, according to two regional officials with knowledge of the ongoing diplomacy.
Iran has not yet agreed to all the terms, though a senior U.S. official said Sunday that they had agreed in principle to opening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a lifting of the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports and ships, as well as to disposing of its
stockpile of enriched uranium
. According to the draft, Iran would have to agree that its
stockpile
will be disposed of under a mechanism that has to be settled by both sides, sources said. But exactly how the stockpile of enriched uranium will be disposed of, and how that would be guaranteed, even if Iran agrees, is not yet determined.
The draft proposal also says Iran would immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz and take steps to ensure traffic returns to pre-war conditions within 30 days. But even i…

Donald Trump took to Truth Social, his social media platform, to announce a peace deal with Iran, and it appears that this time they mean it. The war, which began on February 28, with joint Israel-US strikes on the West Asian nation, is coming to an end.
Trump, who took an aggressive stance on Tehran throughout, said the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil-shipping channel which has faced disruptions over the last few months, would reopen.

WASHINGTON — The effort by the
U.S. and Iran to negotiate an end to the war
has been defined by dramatic fits and starts and punctuated by missile strikes and naval blockades. Yet since a memorandum of understanding was brokered last weekend, the confusion has only grown.

The White House said the agreement had been signed on Sunday by
Vice President JD Vance
but then announced there would be another signing — this time with a ceremony — on Friday. Also on Sunday, President Donald Trump said he would “fully authorize” the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in what he described as a “complete” deal. But an hour later, the president said the critical waterway would open once the deal was signed on Friday.

A flimsy deal will stop the bombing and restart the oil
It was a moment both historic and anticlimactic. Overnight on June 17th, both Donald Trump and Masoud Pezeshkian (pictured) signed a memorandum of understanding (mou) that they claim will end their war. Never before, in 47 years of hostility, have American and Iranian presidents put their names to an accord.
Yet they did so at a distance: Mr Trump in Versailles, Mr Pezeshkian in Iran. It is a bare-bones agreement, barely a dozen paragraphs. It will pause, not end, the hostility, and ultimately will be judged by what comes next. The Trump administration hopes it will transform America’s tortured relationship with Iran. But in the Middle East, hopeful visions have a way of crashing into hard reality.

After days of delay, America has finally released the text of the deal. The key points are as expected. The Strait of Hormuz should reopen. America and Iran will extend their truce and start 60 days of talks over a final pact to restrict Iran’s nuclear programme. Iran will receive limited economic benefits up front: a sanctions waiver allowing oil exports, and the release of bi…

A senior administration official revealed the text of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran to reporters. The document outlines 14 provisions covering the ceasefire, sanctions relief, nuclear commitments and the timeline for a final deal.
The US-Iran 14-point MoU
1.
The US and Iran declare the immediate and permanent end of military operations on every front, including in Lebanon, and commit to refraining from the threat or use of force against each other. The final deal will confirm the permanent termination of the war on all fronts and incorporate the other provisions of this paragraph.
2.
The two countries agree to respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity going forward. Both sides also commit to refraining from interfering in each other's internal affairs.
3.
The US and Iran commit to negotiating and concluding a final deal within a maximum of 60 days. That timeline can only be extended by mutual consent of both parties.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has given his tacit approval to a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran, a 14-point framework aimed at halting military operations and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. But Khamenei made one thing clear: signing a deal is not the same as agreeing with the other side.
The MOU, electronically signed by US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in mid-June 2026, took immediate effect. A formal signing ceremony is expected later this month. Both sides have committed to initiating discussions on Iran’s nuclear program within a 60-day window.
What the deal actually covers
The 14-point framework addresses the most urgent pressure points from a turbulent three months of conflict in the region. At its core, the agreement commits both parties to halting military operations and preventing the d…

Key Points
The 14-point U.S.-Iran agreement ends active fighting and opens a 60-day window to negotiate final nuclear terms, but key questions about uranium enrichment and inspections remain unresolved.
Iran's existing enrichment activities appear set to continue during negotiations, while economic relief and the release of frozen assets may begin before a final nuclear agreement is reached.
The agreement includes Iran's renewed pledge not to develop nuclear weapons, a position Tehran has publicly maintained for decades, though critics point to Iran's documented history of expanding enrichment beyond agreed limits as reason for skepticism.
Israel is not a party to the agreement, and ongoing disputes over Lebanon could test the deal's durability before the …

WASHINGTON (AP) — The
interim deal between the United States and Iran
is supposed to usher in a two-month period that would address the most divisive issue between the longtime adversaries — Tehran’s nuclear program.
Preventing Iran from attaining a nuclear bomb is a key reason that President Donald Trump said he launched the war alongside Israel in February, but
the tentative agreement he has trumpeted
leaves little runway to negotiate the long-running sticking point. The previous nuclear pact between Iran and world powers, from which
Trump pulled the U.S.
in his first term, took many months to negotiate.
Under terms of

Ahead of Friday’s signing ceremony, Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency has published what it describes as the draft contents of a 14-point memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran. Neither government has officially confirmed these details, and the points should be read as Iranian state media’s account pending verification.
Iranian state media is reporting what is says are the draft details of a 14-point memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran.
The specific points have not been officially confirmed by either country. And points include:
Mehr also reported that “final negotiations will not begin before half of Iran’s frozen funds are released, Iran’s oil sanctions are suspended, and the naval blockade is lifted”.
It also said the final agreement would be approved by a UN Security Council resolution. According to Mehr, the draft includes a permanent ceasefire across all fronts, including Lebanon, along with a US commitment not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs.
The terms reportedly require Washington to lift itsnaval blockade and allow the Strait of Hormuzto reopen both wi…

US President Donald Trump has personally signed a copy of the memorandum of understanding with Tehran, with a photo of the document reportedly sent to the Iranian side and the mediators.
Iran's Foreign Ministry confirmed on Wednesday that the text of the memorandum had been officially finalized and "signed by both sides." Trump signed the document while attending a dinner alongside President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France.
"It's signed," Trump said as he left Versailles on Wednesday night. "I signed it in Versailles."
The White House has yet to publish the final text of the memorandum, but a senior US official read out the 14-point document to journalists earlier on Wednesday, following days of criticism over the secrecy.
The readout largely tracked the leaked text, but included more detailed language on Lebanon's sovereignty, the phasing out of the US naval blockade, the future administration of the Strait of Hormuz, and the handling of Iran's enriched uranium stockpile under IAEA supervision.

Iran deal "worst policy blunder in decades": criticism spreads across US political spectrum
US President Donald Trump and his Iranian counterpart, President Masoud Pezeshkian, have both now signed the memorandum of understanding, designed to bring the conflict in the middle east to a close. The document, which consists of 14 points, has not yet been released, but officials have clarified much of what's in it. The memorandum has been met with heavy criticism back in the US, from both Democrats and Republicans. FRANCE 24's Douglas Herbert explains why.

LONDON, June 5 (Reuters) – Here are the main issues between the United States and Iran as they seek a deal to end their war, which is now in its fourth month:
HORMUZ AND GULF BLOCKADE
Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, normally the conduit for around a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments, has caused an unprecedented oil supply shock, driving up fuel, food and fertiliser prices.
Reopening the strait is Washington’s top priority and Tehran’s main point of leverage, but it could take time.
Many vessels are stuck in the Gulf and Iran says it has laid some sea mines that could be difficult to locate.
The U.S. blockade on Iranian ports is hitting Iran’s own exports and state revenue. Lifting this is one of Tehran’s main goals.
NUCLEAR
The U.S. says it believes Iran wants to build a nuclear bomb. Iran has always denied this, saying its atomic programme is for peaceful purposes only. The focus is on its enrichment of uranium, which generates fuel for nuclear power but can also make material for a warhead.
The nuclear question is extremely complicated. Iran has enriched some uranium to 6…

Experts point out that based on the details released so far, the agreement does not fundamentally resolve the long-standing differences between the United States and Iran over issues such as the nuclear program, nor does it reduce the mutual distrust between the two sides. Long-lasting peace in the Middle East, they say, remains distant.
CAIRO, June 15 (Xinhua) -- The United States and Iran have reached a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to end hostilities, lift the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, and halt military operations across multiple fronts.
The deal announced early Monday, long anticipated as the three-month conflict continued to batter global supply chains and rattle financial markets, offered a glimmer of hope for an end to the fighting and a return to stability across the region.
However, experts point out that based on the details released so far, the agreement does not fundamentally resolve the long-standing differences between the United States and Iran over issues such as the nuclear program, nor does it reduce the mutual distrust between …

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump signed an agreement with Iran on Wednesday that calls for Tehran to dilute its
stockpile of highly enriched uranium
and waives U.S.-backed
sanctions on the country
, immediately allowing Iran to sell its oil freely in a major concession from Washington, according to details released by both countries.
The initial deal to end the war takes “immediate effect” after leaders from both countries signed it, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who helped mediate the agreement, said online.
The agreement calls for a permanent end to hostilities and starts a 60-day negotiating clock to reach a final deal on the future of Iran’s nuclear program, though Trump left the door open to resume attacks. It appears to offer Iran several benefits up front while extracting little in return.
The deal has been shrouded in secrecy and confusion for days. U.S. officials refused to disclose the terms even after saying Trump and Vice President JD Vance digitally signed it over the weekend. Trump signed a physical copy Wednesday …

Summary
The US and Iran have been developing secret written proposals to implement their recent 14-point memorandum of understanding, sources say.
The proposals include details on Iran's nuclear program, but Iran has not signed any additional documents beyond the original MOU.
Critics say the secret negotiations mirror the Obama-era approach that Trump once criticized as secret side deals with Iran.

Trump reportedly signed the document while attending a dinner in France alongside President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the G7 summit, Axios reported. According to one US official, a photograph of the process was sent to the Iranian side and to the mediators.

The Trump administration is hailing a potential peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran, but the official text of the deal has yet to be publicly released.
The public release of this text could happen any day this week, but President Donald Trump says it likely won't happen until it's officially signed in Switzerland this Friday.
