WASHINGTON, June 18 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump's interim deal to end the Iran war met scorching public criticism from some of his fellow Republicans as copies of the signed agreement circulated on Capitol Hill on Thursday.
One Republican senator called the framework pact announced this week the "worst foreign policy blunder in decades," another said some reported provisions seemed "ill-advised," and some pro-Republican commentators also broke with Trump over the agreement.

US President Donald Trump's deal with Iran has opened a rare breach with Republican hawks, who warn that the agreement falls far short of the sweeping victory he promised and could leave Tehran richer, stronger and still able to threaten the region.
The memorandum of understanding, signed by Mr Trump in France, is aimed at ending months of conflict, reopening the vital Strait of Hormuz and stabilising energy markets after a war that drove up oil prices and raised fears of a wider Middle East crisis.
But the terms have alarmed some of the same Republicans who spent years denouncing Democratic former president Barack Obama's 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran as dangerously weak.
They have voiced concerns that Mr Trump is offering Iran sanctions relief, access to oil markets and the prospect of a $300 billion reconstruction fund while failing to secure firm commitments on uranium enrichment, ballistic missiles or Tehran's support for armed proxies.

Republicans have turned on Donald Trump
over his plan to end the war with Iran
, accusing him of making the “worst foreign policy blunder in decades”.
The U.S.
released the 14-point interim agreement on Wednesday
as Trump signed the documents in Versailles, France. The terms included stopping the conflict and reopening the vital shipping route, the Strait of Hormuz, but also financing Iran’s recovery with a $300bn fund and scrapping sanctions.
“Reagan is rolling over in his grave,” said Louisiana senator Bill Cassidy on Wednesday, referring to the former president Trump admires.
“Iran’s nuclear ambitions were not curbed, and they have
learned that threatening the Strait of Hormuz works
and will undoubtedly leverage it in the future.

One Republican senator called the framework pact announced this week the “worst foreign policy blunder in decades,” another said some reported provisions seemed “ill-advised,” and some pro-Republican commentators also broke with Trump over the agreement.
The criticism was a rare rebuke from members of the Republican Party who have mostly offered full loyalty to the president, but are increasingly restive as the economic effects of the

have hurt their prospects ahead of midterm elections in November that will decide control of Congress. Democrats, who are seeking to regain control of one or both of the legislative chambers, have also been critical of the agreement.
The White House sent the text of the U.S.-Iran Memorandum of Understanding to members of Congress on Thursday, a day after Trump signed the preliminary deal to end the war. The document, seen by Reuters, matched what had been read out by a U.S.…
