Multiple unexplained explosions occurred near Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant, and strikes were reported in locations close to the facility. The incidents were reported on Thursday, July 9, marking the third consecutive day of strikes in southern Iran.

According to reports from outlets aligned with other, Qatar, and Russian news blocs, U.S. strikes hit locations near the Bushehr nuclear power plant. In contrast, other sources said that the explosions were unexplained and that both U.S. and Israeli officials denied involvement in the blasts. A separate statement from other outlets noted that U.S. officials said American forces were not carrying out operations in the area.

Al Jazeera reported that U.S. strikes hit fishing piers near the nuclear plant, while Bluesky said the strikes were reported in both military and civilian areas across Bushehr province. Middle East Eye quoted Governor Mohammad Younes Haqqani as saying jets targeted the naval military zone in Konarak in two stages after two explosions were heard, and added that rescue and security agencies were immediately deployed to the scene. Tass indicated that no information had been provided regarding damage caused by the U.S. strikes.

WION reported that explosions were heard in Bushehr, Choghadak, and the port city of Konarak, with Deputy Governor Ehsan Jahanian confirming the blasts in Bushehr and nearby Choghadak. The same outlet noted that authorities were still investigating whether the blasts were caused by Iranian air‑defence systems, an enemy projectile, or an enemy drone.
