Reports from Daily Times Nigeria state that Acting Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu ordered tight security around worship centers and public places in Nigeria due to high tension in the Middle East. Disu directed all Commissioners of Police across the 36 states and the FCT to work with traditional and religious leaders to strengthen security around these locations. The force also intensified intelligence-led policing across the country to prevent attempts to exploit global developments for unrest.

Other reports attribute different directives to other named officials. AuthorityNG reports that IGP Mohammed Adamu ordered the deployment of additional operational and investigative assets, including personnel from Police Tactical Squads and crack detectives from the Force Intelligence Bureau, to support search and rescue operations in Kankara, Katsina State.
