A 45-year-old domestic worker named Meena was killed at a residence in Mount Kailash, South Delhi. Dr. Manish Gupta was found sitting beside her body when police arrived and has been named as the accused. An FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by a neighbour, according to the Hindu. Police received a PCR call at around 11:30 am reporting a woman had been murdered on the terrace of a neighbouring building, according to Tribune India. Meena was killed by blunt force trauma and stabbing, according to Tribune India, which reported that Dr. Manish Gupta admitted during preliminary questioning to attacking her with a bat and stabbing her with a knife. Meena had worked as a domestic helper for 25 years, according to the Times of India, and supported her family, including her son's wife's fertility treatment. Friends recalled that the doctor's behavior became more attentive or observant, according to the Times of India. Meena’s family questioned why they were not informed that the doctor may have had mental health problems, according to the Times of India. The incident occurred in an area where, two months prior, the daughter of an IRS officer was killed after being raped by a former domestic worker, according to Tribune India.
