President Donald Trump stated the U.S. will retrieve and destroy Iran’s enriched uranium after the conflict ends. According to Trump, the U.S. intends to eliminate Iran’s enriched uranium without taking possession of it. TASS reported that Washington is closely monitoring the condition of three Iranian nuclear facilities containing enriched uranium, primarily through satellite intelligence. Three sources told CNN that much of Iran’s highly enriched uranium is believed to be at the Isfahan nuclear site, and seven current and former officials said recovering the stockpile, believed to be stored deep underground, would require a significant number of U.S. ground troops beyond a small special operations presence. Retired Lt. Col. Darin Gaub told The National News Desk that removing uranium from beneath a mountain would be extraordinarily difficult. U.S. airstrikes in June 2025 failed to eliminate Iran’s entire stockpile of highly enriched uranium. French President Emmanuel Macron said Iran’s enriched uranium should be neutralized and placed under the supervision of the UN atomic agency (IAEA). Macron also said France and Britain are ready to lead a mission in the Hormuz Strait with the support of the Netherlands and Italy to help reopen the sea lane, and that such a mission could be deployed within two or three days, potentially with tolls. Iran has taken defensive measures at uranium sites, possibly in response to U.S. pressure for a handover. A Bluesky post claimed Trump previously demanded complete surrender from Iran and is now claimed to have achieved it. Another Bluesky post asserted the U.S. is providing financial benefits to Iran, pressuring Israel to cease hostilities in Lebanon, and lifting oil sanctions, while Iran is not surrendering its enriched uranium stockpile. President Donald Trump has made complete elimination of Iran’s nuclear capability one of his stated aims of the war.
