Indonesian prosecutors have charged 19 people with human trafficking in connection with a syndicate accused of trafficking at least 34 infants between 2022 and 2025, or 2023 and 2025. The defendants, consisting of 18 women and one man, are on trial in Bandung, West Java, following an investigation initiated after a parent reported an alleged baby kidnapping to police. Authorities described the case as one of Indonesia’s largest trafficking cases in recent years.

Lie Siu Luan, also known as Lily, is identified as the suspected ringleader of the trafficking ring. The syndicate allegedly recruited vulnerable parents via social media and online adoption forums, paying them between nine million and 15 million rupiah for newborns. The group used forged documents, such as birth certificates and ID cards, to facilitate the transfers. Some of the trafficked infants were sent to Singapore for over S$20,000, with some reports indicating prices reaching up to S$18,000 each.

Accounts differ regarding the specific timeline of the operation, with some sources citing the period between 2022 and 2025, while others state it occurred between 2023 and 2025.
