According to The Hindu, a Bengaluru homemaker was duped of ₹98.4 lakh over a two‑month period after fraudsters allegedly told her that her identity documents had been misused in a money‑laundering case and that multiple criminal cases had been registered against her.

The Times of India reported that Gujarat Police’s Cyber Crime Branch, in coordination with the NTA, arrested a 19‑year‑old student from Bihar for allegedly attempting to divert NEET‑UG 2026 fee refunds into his own bank accounts. The outlet added that the accused targeted around 350 candidate accounts, gained unauthorized access to nearly 150 accounts with weak passwords, and that the fraud was detected through the NEET portal’s security systems. Authorities traced and apprehended the accused before widespread financial losses occurred, the report said.

Daily Pioneer reported that the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch busted an interstate cyber fraud racket involving fake claims of access to Re‑NEET examination question papers. Two accused from Rajasthan were arrested, and police clarified that no actual examination paper leak was involved. The outlet noted that the operation targeted students and parents by exploiting concerns around the NEET re‑examination, using Telegram, Instagram and other social media platforms to circulate fake advertisements claiming access to the Re‑NEET question paper and confidential exam material. Victims were allegedly asked to pay advance amounts for “premium access”.
