One person was hospitalized following a house fire in Homewood, Pittsburgh. Fire was visible on the second and third floors of the Homewood house. In Springfield, Massachusetts, one person was taken to the hospital after a morning fire; the fire was caused by a dryer. Four people were displaced by the Springfield fire and received Red Cross assistance. In Marshall County, West Virginia, two people were injured in an early morning house fire. One resident was hospitalized with burns on arms and hands, and one firefighter was hospitalized and later discharged. The Marshall County house was a total loss. All residents and pets evacuated safely from the Marshall County fire. In Mansfield, Connecticut, one person died following a house fire. One firefighter suffered burns while performing rescues and was hospitalized in stable condition. In Birmingham's Woodlawn community, one person was hospitalized after a house fire.
