The Nah Welfare Society, a tribal organization in Arunachal Pradesh, alleged that the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has encroached on Indian territory in the Taksing Circle of the Upper Subansiri district. According to the group, the PLA has constructed military camps, roads, and bridges in the area. The organization identified five specific locations as being under Chinese occupation: Oying in the Asaphila area, Paniar in the Chujarta area, Marpan, Potrang Lake, and Tindingtang. The Nah Welfare Society stated that these locations were within Indian territory prior to 2020.

The Indian Army issued a statement rejecting media reports regarding Chinese army intervention in its border state. The Army called the reports of recent encroachment and the setting up of camps incorrect and without basis. Accounts differ on the validity of the territorial claims, with the tribal group asserting the land is Indian while the Army denied the existence of such encroachment.

In response to the situation, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju discussed border infrastructure following claims by a tribal group of Chinese land grabs. Rijiju announced the approval of the Arunachal Frontier Highway, a 1400-kilometer-long infrastructure project with an estimated cost of ₹42,000 crore. He highlighted developments in border areas, including improvements to the Trans Arunachal Highway and efforts to enhance network connectivity to all border villages. The highway's development aligns with the Modi government's emphasis on developing border villages and facilitating troop movement.
