Amazon announced an additional $5 billion equity investment in Anthropic on April 20 2026, raising its total investment in the company to $13 billion. The move follows earlier reports of an $8 billion partnership between AWS and Anthropic.

AWS CEO Matt Garman addressed the company's striking $50 billion investment in OpenAI, and Microsoft is identified as a main cloud partner of OpenAI while also backing both OpenAI and Anthropic, according to newsgpt.ai.

Times of India reported that Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, OpenAI and Anthropic are embedding thousands of engineers directly inside customer offices. The same outlet said Microsoft has a $2.5 billion Frontier Company for embedding engineers, OpenAI operates a $4 billion Deployment Company, Anthropic runs a $1.5 billion venture, and Amazon maintains a $1 billion AWS unit for the same purpose.

Neowin.net reported that Amazon may add up to $20 billion in milestone‑based commitments to Anthropic and is considering using OpenAI models alongside its own Nova family of AI models for internal workloads. The Nova models were announced in late 2024 for Amazon Bedrock. Tech‑insider.org reported that Anthropic committed to spend $100 billion on Amazon Web Services over the next decade.

CNBC.com reported that Lindy’s CEO switched 100 percent of the company’s traffic from Anthropic’s Claude models to DeepSeek, a Chinese firm, and that the switch is expected to save Lindy millions of dollars within months.
