George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, inaugurated the newly remodelled Premier Hotel in Ibadan, Oyo State, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu. The facility, which has 154 beds, was described by Akume as a landmark project that reaffirmed the commercial, cultural, and strategic importance of Ibadan and Oyo State. The inauguration was noted as a moment of pride for the people and governments of the six South-West states. President Tinubu, in remarks attributed to him, said the event marked the restoration of a national asset and emphasized that heritage should be preserved, renewed, and adapted to meet contemporary realities. He also stressed the need to revive national assets nationwide to complement the administration's infrastructure and sectoral growth efforts. According to one report, Tinubu paid tribute to the leaders of the old Western Region who established the hotel and said the project mirrors the rebirth of other national assets across the country. The Premier Hotel is reported by one source to be owned collectively by the South-West governors and to be 66 years old.
