The Trump administration blocked global access to Anthropic's Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models following an Amazon security alert. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy informed U.S. government officials that Amazon researchers found ways to extract sensitive information from Anthropic's Fable 5 model that could be used in cyberattacks. Anthropic shut down its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models globally on June 12, 2026. According to the Times of India, Anthropic stated that the vulnerabilities exposed in its models were minor and publicly known. TechCrunch reported that Amazon said it is 'not uncommon for governments to seek our counsel on potential security risks,' and that it does not 'share the details of those discussions.' TechCrunch also reported that AWS has been affected by the model cutoff.
