President Bola Tinubu holds the office of President of Nigeria. According to AllAfrica, a coalition of apex leaders, party members, stakeholders, traditional institutions, youth and women groups, and residents of Eti‑Osa Constituency I in Lagos State appealed to President Tinubu and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress to intervene in an alleged attempt to disregard the outcome of the party's primary election in that constituency.

SCMP reported that Peter Obi will run for president in Nigeria's January elections. The outlet also noted that Obi was the second runner‑up in the 2023 presidential ballot narrowly won by Bola Tinubu and that he was ratified late on Saturday as the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress party. In his acceptance speech, Obi pledged to tackle insecurity, double health insurance coverage, and invest heavily in schools, teachers, and technology.

He added that the agenda is restoring the hope of Nigerians for a brighter future by addressing many challenges confronting the nation.
