Malaysian citizens will be entitled to purchase subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre nationwide starting in July 2026, according to corroborated reports. The subsidy will be administered through a MyKad-based verification mechanism, modelled after the Budi Madani RON95 programme. Non-citizens and ineligible commercial entities will not receive diesel subsidies. The reform aligns the retail price of diesel in Sabah and Sarawak with that in Peninsular Malaysia. Prior to the reform, diesel was sold at a subsidised price of RM2.15 per litre in Sabah and Sarawak and at an unsubsidised price of RM4.37 per litre in Peninsular Malaysia, according to thestar.com.my.
