Four independent candidates elected to the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) following a meeting with party president Abdul Aleem Khan. The four members are Anwar Ali (GBA-23 Ghanche-II), Dr. Asad Shafiq (GBA-24 Ghanche-III), Muhammad Dilpazeer (GBA-15 Diamer-I), and Aman Ali Amir (GBA-21 Ghizer). Abdul Aleem Khan, who is also a federal minister, announced the joinings on his social media account and congratulated them. He stated that the IPP has not previously had representation in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly. According to dailytimes.com.pk, Muhammad Dilpazeer said the four elected members had formed a group before deciding to join the IPP and believed the party offered a suitable platform for advancing development and political priorities in Gilgit-Baltistan. The IPP fielded 16 candidates in the Gilgit-Baltistan general elections held on June 7, but none won. Political parties are seeking support to form the next government in Gilgit-Baltistan.
