Ali Al-Qadhi, a building labourer in his 50s, built a home in Taiz city 15 years ago but was forced to flee in 2015 as explosions, gunfire, and tank noises occurred near his neighbourhood. He has lived in a rented home in a safer area of Taiz for around eight years, according to NRC.no. The last United Nations-brokered truce ended in October 2022, as reported by HRW.org. Since the truce began in April 2022, there have not been significant airstrikes or major military offensives, HRW.org reported. However, warring parties in Yemen—including Houthi forces, the Yemeni government, and the Saudi- and United Arab Emirates (UAE)-led coalition—have continued to commit violations of international human rights and humanitarian law, according to HRW.org.
