On Friday, Israel, Lebanon and the United States signed a trilateral framework agreement in Washington at the U.S. Department of State. The agreement is intended to pave the way for a peace deal or to end hostilities between Israel and Lebanon and resulted from five rounds of talks in Washington.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the agreement "begins to put in place a framework for lasting peace and security" and later called it "the beginning of the beginning." The agreement was described as a step toward peace or as a framework for lasting peace and security.

According to Al Arabiya, Lebanon’s ambassador to Washington, Nada Hamadeh Moawad, said the accord is a first step toward restoring Lebanese sovereignty and territorial integrity, securing a permanent cessation of hostilities and enabling people to return to their land. Israel’s envoy to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, said that under the deal "Iran is out, Hezbollah." Al Monitor reported that the agreement contains 14 points.

MiddleEastEye reported that the United States committed $100 million in humanitarian assistance in coordination with the United Nations for affected communities and $30 million to reimburse the Lebanese Armed Forces. The same source said the agreement aims to restore Lebanon’s sovereignty, disarm Hezbollah, dismantle its terrorist infrastructure, and enable Israel to return to its borders once the threat is removed.
