A drone hit a passenger bus in Russia’s Bryansk region on June 17. The vehicle was carrying Belarusian children or students, and a woman traveling with the group was killed. Six people were reported injured.

Reports differ on the number of people aboard. One account said 44 people were on the bus, while another said 43 passengers, and a third described the vehicle as carrying 12 passengers and two drivers. Injury figures also vary; some sources listed six injured, whereas others reported two injuries.

The bus’s destination is contested. One source indicated it was traveling from Minsk to Anapa, while another said it was headed to the Black Sea resort of Gelendzhik for vacation. The border crossing at the Krasny Kamen checkpoint was reported closed.

Accounts of responsibility diverge. Russian officials blamed the attack on Ukrainian terrorists, and Russia told the United Nations that evidence at the site confirms the drone’s Ukrainian origin. In contrast, the Security Service of Ukraine said it intercepted a Russian document denying Ukraine’s involvement, and Ukrainian intelligence services called the attack a provocation by Moscow.
