The United States military fired a Hellfire missile into the engine room of a vessel attempting to break through its blockade of Iranian ports after the crew ignored repeated warnings. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards fired at least two missiles at commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Accounts differ on the vessel’s flag and name. The Guardian reported the vessel was the Botswana‑flagged M/T Lexie. Al Arabiya reported it was a Guinea‑Bissau‑flagged vessel. Hindustan Times reported it was the Gambia‑flagged cargo ship Lian Star and said the vessel was transiting international waters toward an Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman when struck.

Al Monitor reported that two commercial ships suffered significant damage but incurred no casualties, and that a tanker caught fire after being hit by an unknown projectile east of Oman’s Limah.

Al Arabiya reported that the strike was the third U.S. strike that week and the ninth since the blockade began.

TASS reported that Iranian forces said they launched a cruise‑missile attack on U.S. vessels off Bahrain, including a U.S. destroyer.

Hindustan Times reported that U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth warned American forces are prepared to resume strikes on Iran.
