Washington has imposed a blockade on Iran’s sea trade, according to Al Arabiya. Al Arabiya also reported that U.S. forces have intercepted multiple commercial and oil tankers in the Indian Ocean in recent months. U.S. Central Command said its forces have redirected 100 commercial vessels since the maritime blockade began on April 13, and more than 200 aircraft and warships are backing the Iran blockade, Aerotime.aero reported.

Al Jazeera reported that the U.S. military says it has lifted the naval blockade of Iranian ports. Daily Sabah reported that the U.S. Navy has allowed more than a dozen ships through to Iranian ports, lifting the blockade, and Press TV reported that eleven Iranian ships have broken through the U.S. naval blockade.

Accounts differ on the number of vessels disabled since the start of the blockade. Tass reported that U.S. forces have disabled six commercial vessels since April 13, while Aerotime.aero reported that four vessels have been disabled in the same period.

The New York Post reported that U.S. forces disabled a third oil tanker this week while it was attempting to break through the American blockade on Iranian ports. Al Arabiya reported that the vessel Davina, also known as Lenore, was placed under U.S. sanctions in October 2024 for Iranian oil trading.

Aerotime.aero reported that the mission has allowed 26 humanitarian aid ships to pass since enforcement began.
