A construction worker was trampled to death by a wild elephant near Kadambur in Erode district on Wednesday night. According to dtnext.in, the worker, identified as Basuvaraj of Guthiyalathur near Kadambur, was returning home on his two-wheeler when a wild elephant emerged near the 12th Mile area and attacked him by lifting him with its trunk, throwing him down, and trampling him. Basuvaraj suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. His body was sent to the GH in Sathyamangalam for post-mortem.

Late on Thursday night, a 60-year-old farmer named Kaalan, from Ramaranai in the Thalamalai Forest Range of the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, was killed by a wild elephant. According to gnewsnetworks.com, Kaalan had fed his cattle and returned home. Around midnight, he went out after hearing cattle bellowing and encountered a lone elephant near the cattle shed. When he attempted to flee, the elephant attacked and trampled him. Kaalan died on the spot. Villagers who heard his cries found his body and alerted police and forest officials, reporting the elephant had moved toward the forest.
