A Russian drone struck an apartment building in Galați, southeastern Romania, injuring two people and starting a fire. The drone was part of an overnight attack on Ukraine. NATO and the European Union condemned the strike and blamed Russia. According to the Guardian, two people sustained cuts that required medical treatment and several people were evacuated. Romanian officials condemned the incident as an 'irresponsible escalation' by Moscow, and the Romanian military scrambled F-16 fighter jets in response. The South China Morning Post reported this was the first time in the war that a drone had hit a densely populated area in Romania and caused injuries. According to DW, Romania reported that a Russian drone had hit a building in its territory near the Ukrainian border, and Ukraine reported a Russian drone attack in the southern border region of Odesa.
